Position Overview:

We are seeking a Club Coach to join our club and contribute to a fun and competitive swim environment. The coach will lead multiple training groups within our competitive program, working with novice to national age group swimmers aged 10–18. This role encompasses athlete development, training plan execution, and competition preparation, alongside collaboration on program direction and team growth.

The position is full-time on-deck, with administrative responsibilities.

Location:

KuRenang Swimming Club is based in Ipoh, Perak, a relaxed mid-sized city in Malaysia with a low cost of living and good accessibility. Training is held at Pusat Akuatik Tuanku Zara, a sheltered open-air aquatic facility suitable for year-round competitive swimming. The venue offers a focused and comfortable environment for both athletes and coaches.

Principal Responsibilities – Coaching & Program Delivery:

  • Provide strong leadership, technical instruction, and motivation to swimmers across competitive training groups.
  • Foster good sportsmanship & team cohesion at all levels and age groups.
  • Develop a seasonal plan and periodisation  to train all competing swim team members to compete at their optimal abilities and prepare athletes for peak performance at targeted competitions.
  • Plan and deliver structured workouts that emphasize stroke development, race skills and progression aligned with seasonal goals for all groups.
  • Regularly assess training effectiveness and collaborate club management to refine as necessary.
  • Maintain all swimmers timings and records
  • Review swim competition entries.
  • Attend all scheduled swim meets, providing coaching support, race analysis, and athlete management on deck.

Coaching Schedule:

This is a full-time, on-deck role that includes evening and weekend coaching hours, scheduled to accommodate academic commitments of athletes. A detailed schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of coaching experience (club or comparable level).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage group training and individual athlete progression.
  • Strong technical knowledge across strokes and race strategies.
  • Coaching certifications (ASCA, UKCC, AUSTSWIM or equivalent) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
