Lake Forest High School is seeking a Swim Director.
Description: The Swim Director is a 12-month, 8 hour per day position. The Swim Director manages and oversees all aspects of the Scout Aquatics Community Education Swim Program; working collaboratively with the Pool Manager and the Athletic Department. This position offers the opportunity to positively impact swimmer development, manage dynamic training sessions, and contribute to a strong, positive team culture. Salary and Benefits:
- $30.00 – $40.00 per hour

Essential Functions:
Program Management
- Directs and manages Scout Aquatics coaching staff; a 150 member USA registered swim club
- Little Scouts, Junior Scouts, Junior Scouts Plus, Senior Scouts, & Senior Scout Gold
- Assist with the recruitment and retention of highly qualified coaches and swim personnel
- Assists coaching staff with writing workouts, skill development, dryland exercises, and parent communication
- Oversees and manages all age-group level practices and meets
- Schedules practice and meets with Pool Manager and Athletic Department
- Establishes daily/seasonal workouts for Senior level programs including dryland and strength building exercises, with attention paid to injury prevention
- Holds goal setting and review meeting with all swimmer
- Registers swimmers for monthly or semi-monthly meets using Meet Manager software
- Provides individual feedback to swimmers at practices and meets after race
- Secures/rents 50 meter pool time at appropriate facilities during summer period
- Manages and runs all home swim events and meets
- Sets-up all deck equipment required (harness, timing and starter’s system, and computer)
- Maintains all equipment and keeps in proper working order
- Notifies Athletic Office of any repairs or equipment needs
- Ensures all areas of the pool and equipment are safe for swimmers and coaches
- Assists Aquatics Director/Pool Manager when he/she is not present
- Helps direct lifeguards as necessary
- Aids in maintaining pool with maintenance crew
- Keeps facility clean and safe at all times
Registration
- Organizes, promotes, and establishes seasonal tryout opportunities for Scout Aquatics Swim Club for interested participants age 6 through 18
- Registers all swimmers through approved LFHS registration software (RegWorks)
- Manages all required USA swimming registrations and necessary paperwork
- Ensures all registration fees are collected/deposited and any accompanying paperwork is filed appropriately
Communication/Collaboration
- Maintains and runs the Scout Aquatics website
- Updates the meet schedule, newsletter and calendar weekly
- E-mails updates to registered participants weekly, along with newsletter
- Enters and records meets and events individually for each swimmer/family
- Sends all meet entries to event hosts in advance of their deadline
- Works collaboratively with Scout Aquatic Booster Association, parent group for special events, team activities, and program support
- Participates and advocates for Scout Aquatics as a member of Illinois Swimming’s House of Delegates and USA Swimming
- Promotes and supports athletes with disabilities through regional and national resources
Other
- Performs other job related duties as assigned by direct supervisor
- Adheres to Board of Education policies and procedures
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, grasp, feel, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetitive motions are required. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside environmental conditions and is subject to loud noises, heat, and humidity.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- American Swim Coaches Association – ASCA Level 3 (or greater) Certification
- AED/CPR Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent)
- Full certification as a non-athlete Coach of USA Swimming
- Experience with office and school-based management systems – preferred
