2025 Columbus Sectionals

  • July 17-20, 2025
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • LCM (50 meters)
  • Meet Mobile: “2025 OH CZ East Speedo Sectional Meet”

Highlighting night one of Sectionals in Columbus was Isaac Fleig who swam to a win in the boys 1500 freestyle. Fleig touched in a 15:23.07, about seven seconds off his lifetime best of a 15:16.33 that he swam for 4th at last summer’s Summer Championships in Irvine. Fleig did not swim at US Summer Nationals last month but his time from today would have been 11th in the event. Fleig is set to join Ohio State this fall after transferring from Arizona State.

The boys 200 backstroke was the closest race of the night as Paul Moody touched in a 2:01.12, just 0.01 ahead of Jack Wilkening who swam a 2:01.13. Moody was 19th in the event at US Summer Nationals in a 2:00.96. He is set to join Army next fall while Wilkening is a rising junior at Michigan.

Ryan Healy swam to a huge lifetime best in the 200 breast posting a 2:13.95 in his win. His previous best was a 2:17.82 that he swam just last month, and his best time entering the season was a 2:24.02 from summer 2022. Healy swims at Michigan but has not swam the short course yards version of the event since 2022.

17 year old Austin Carpenter earned the win in the boys 50 free with a 22.70, a personal best by 0.16 seconds. Carpenter is committed to Texas for fall 2026. Ahmed Ismail touched 2nd in a 22.82.

Highlighting the girls side of the meet was the Ohio State’s Paige Delma who swam to a 2:33.51 in the 200 breast. That was a personal best by over a second and a half as her previous best was a 2:35.06. Finishing behind Delma was a pair of 15 year olds as Amelia Malarz touched in a 2:36.07 just ahead of Catherine Dorsey who swam a 2:36.11.

The 50 free was a close race as Lexi Greenhawt of Michigan touched in a 25.72 just ahead of Julie Mishler who swam a 25.74. Mishler, a Louisville commit, broke the overall high school record in the SCY 50 free last December, a record previously held by Gretchen Walsh.

Indiana commit Elizabeth Eichbrecht earned the win in the 800 free touching in a 8:48.54 marking a 12 second drop while Lily Cleason swam to a 2:15.62 200 back, about a second off her lifetime best of a 2:14.61.

He never swam for Kentucky or Wisconsin. He deferred college for a year to prep for Olympic Trials, then swam for Arizona State for one season and is now transferring to Ohio State.

It’s not really that complicated.

TLDR; Mark Schubert shenanigans. Dude has always hated swimmers going to college (unless it was to the college he was coaching). He’s like Chris Plumb but less creative.
