Indian Swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu ki Paris Olympics tak ki Journey

2024 PARIS SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

Dhinidhi Desinghu ka bachpan shyness aur doosron se interact karne mein reluctance se bhara tha, jisse unke parents pareshaan the. Unko socialize aur confidence gain karne ke liye, unhone Dhinidhi ko swimming karne ke liye encourage kiya, kyunki unke ghar ke paas hi ek pool tha. Shuruat mein, Dhinidhi resistant thi. “Mujhe paani pasand nahi tha, main pool mein nahi jaana chahti thi. Ye struggle tha,” woh yaad karti hain. Unke parents ne unhe comfortable feel karwane ke liye khud bhi swimming seekhi. In koshishon ke bawajood, unhe apne dar par kabu paane mein waqt laga.

Aaj, 14 saal ki Dhinidhi Paris 2024 Olympics mein Indian contingent ki sabse youngest member hain, jo women’s 200m freestyle mein universality quota par compete karengi, veteran swimmer Srihari Nataraj ke saath. Unka Olympics tak ka safar challenges se bhara raha hai. Paani mein comfortable hone ke baad bhi, Dhinidhi ne performance anxiety se struggle kiya. Unki maa, Jesitha, yaad karti hain kaise Dhinidhi competitions ke pehle bimaar ho jaati thi. Lekin, ek turning point aaya jab Mangalore mein ek state-level meet tha. Initial reluctance ke bawajood, Dhinidhi ne compete karne ka faisla kiya aur gold jeet liya, jo unki swimming mein rise ki shuruaat thi.

Dhinidhi ka talent chhoti si umar se hi evident tha. Woh youngest female swimmer hain jinhone National Games mein saat gold medals jeete hain aur women’s 200m freestyle ka national record rakhti hain, time 2:05.63 ke saath. Unhone 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games mein bhi India ko represent kiya. Bengaluru mein Dolphin Aquatics mein Dronacharya awardee Nihar Ameen aur coach Madhu Kumar ke under training karte hue, Dhinidhi ne remarkable dedication dikhayi hai. “Kabhi-kabhi humein usse pool se bahar bulana padta hai, kyunki humein pata hai woh struggle kar rahi hai aur hum usse push nahi karna chahte. Lekin woh ziddi hoti hai. Yeh uska passion hai swimming ke liye,” Madhu kehte hain.

Jab Dhinidhi ne Dolphin Aquatics join kiya, woh sirf 9 saal ki thi aur initially older aur experienced swimmers se intimidated thi. Lekin unke coach ne jaldi hi unki potential ko pehchan liya. “Jabse woh hamare saath hai Dolphins mein, kabhi ek din nahi gaya jab usne hard work nahi kiya,” Madhu note karte hain. Dhinidhi ka hard work aur passion unki rapid progress ki key rahe hain. Woh apne training sessions aur goals ko ek diary mein meticulously document karti hain, jise ek tool ke roop mein use karti hain focused aur motivated rehne ke liye. “Main sab kuch likhti hoon taaki agar kabhi mujhe pata karna ho ki mujhe kya aim karna hai, toh main jaan sakoon kitna door hoon,” woh explain karti hain.

Hangzhou Asian Games ka experience Dhinidhi ke liye eye-opening tha. “Woh blocks pe khade hona TV pe dekhne se bilkul alag hota hai. Thoda scary laga lekin isse mujhe bahut madad mili,” woh kehti hain. International competition ka exposure aur elite athletes ko observe karne ka mauka invaluable raha. Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra se milna unke liye ek highlight tha aur Dhinidhi Paris mein aise aur experiences ka intezar kar rahi hain. Unhone apne idol, Katie Ledecky ke liye ek letter prepare kiya hai, ummeed karti hain unse milne aur autograph lene ki.

Madhu ka aim Paris mein Dhinidhi ke liye personal best achieve karna hai 200m freestyle mein. “Uska speed pehle 50m mein bahut achha hai lekin finishing mein woh better ho sakti hai. Agar woh apne third aur fourth 50m segments improve kar sakti hai, toh woh personal best achieve kar sakti hai,” woh kehte hain. Srihari Nataraj ke saath compete karna bhi Dhinidhi ke liye ek motivating factor hoga, kyunki woh unhe idolize karti hain.

Ek shy bachchi se lekar ek Olympian banne tak Dhinidhi ki journey unki determination aur swimming ke passion ka testament hai. Unke parents ka support aur unki apni perseverance initial challenges ko overcome karne mein crucial rahe hain. Ab woh racing aur relays ke adrenaline rush ka maza leti hain, competitive environment mein khush rehti hain jo pehle unhe intimidate karta tha. Unka dream hamesha Olympics mein compete karne ka tha, aur Paris 2024 shuruaat hai. Apne performance ko improve karne aur zyada experience gain karne ka aim lekar, Dhinidhi already agle chaar saalon aur Los Angeles 2028 Olympics ke liye dekh rahi hain.
