Gretchen Walsh swam to the t-7th fastest performance all-time in tonight’s semifinal of the women’s 100 fly as she touched in a 55.31. With her swim tonight, she now holds the top nine performances all-time.

Walsh holds the World Record after swimming a 54.60 at the Pro Series stop in Fort Lauderdale in May 2025. She has the potential to add to her tally tomorrow night during the final. If she swims sub-55.48, Walsh will move Sarah Sjostrom outside of the top 10 performances all-time. Sjostrom’s former World Record of a 55.48 had stood from 2016 until 2024 when Walsh first broke it with a 55.18 at the 2024 US Olympic Trials.

It’s so crazy how dominant she is in this race, especially cause 1. She’s relatively new to it (2024 was when she started going 55/56), and 2. Cause it’s a sprint and little details to the T matter so much
