Florida International University has announced the addition of a pair of internationals to the 2019-20 roster: Katarzyna Kołodziej and Delaine Goll will join the Panthers in the fall along with future members of the class of 2023 Emily Cordovi and Eriana Temperino.

Katarzyna Kołodziej

Kołodziej hails from Bielsko-Biala in Southern Poland and swims for the club team AZS UMCS Lublin. She specializes in butterfly and freestyle. Kołodziej represented Poland at the 2017 European Junior Championships, winning a bronze medal in the women’s 4×100 medley relay with a butterfly split of 1:01.22. Later that summer she participated in the 2017 World Junior Championships in Indianapolis.

Top times (converted):

  • LCM 100 fly – 1:01.16 (53.83)
  • SCM 100 fly – 1:00.25 (54.27)
  • SCM 200 fly – 2:12.56 (1:59.42)
  • SCM 50 free – 25.74 (23.18)
  • SCM 100 free – 57.13 (51.46)
  • SCM 200 free – 2:03.34 (1:51.11)

Kołodziej’s converted times would have scored in the A finals of the 50 free and 100/200 fly and the B finals of the 100/200 free at the 2019 Conference USA Championships. “Katarzyna is exactly what we are looking for in a Panther. She is a butterfly specialist that has versatility in freestyle, and will be a key factor in our relays,” said head coach Randy Horner.

Delaine Goll

Goll will head to FIU from the club team SG Essen. A breaststroke/IM specialist, she has represented Germany on the international stage since 2015 when she competed at Junior World Championships in Singapore. She has also swum under the German flag at Euro Juniors. In 2016 Goll placed third in the 200 breast at German Nationals, earning the junior national title and qualifying for Euro Juniors.

Top times (converted):

  • LCM 50 breast – 32.34 (28.23)
  • LCM 100 breast – 1:09.76 (1:01.04)
  • LCM 200 breast – 2:30.85 (2:12.29)
  • LCM 200 IM – 2:22.41 (2:05.41)

Goll’s best times would have scored in the A finals of the 100/200 breast at 2019 C-USA Championships. Her 200 IM would have made the B final. “We are very excited to have Delaine joining our team. She has the ability to make a big impact on the C-USA and NCAA stage,” said Horner.
