Butterflyer Harrison Ranier Makes Verbal Commitment to Auburn Tigers

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Harrison Ranier from Davidson, North Carolina, has announced his intention to swim and study at Auburn University beginning in the fall of 2023.

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at Auburn University. Thanks to all who have helped me achieve this life long dream.”

Ranier, a USA Swimming Scholastic All American, is a junior at Northwest Cabarrus High School. At the 2021 North Carolina High School 3A State Championships, he placed third in both the 200 free (1:41.68) and 100 fly (49.28) as a sophomore. He won the 100 fly at the NCHSAA 3A Regionals West meet, and finished the season with a NISCA All-America time in the 100 fly.

Ranier does his club swimming with Sailfish Aquatics. He is a Winter U.S. Open qualifier in the 100 fly and 200 IM and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 fly. Other than his 100 fly and 200 IM times, where his PBs came from high school states, Ranier earned lifetime bests in all his SCY events last spring at Eastern Sectionals and Tarheel States. At the latter, he won the 200 back, 100 fly, and 400 IM and was runner-up in the 100/200 breast. At Cary Sectionals, he came in 17th in the 100 back and 100 fly, 18th in the 200 IM, and 20th in the 200 fly. This summer, Ranier notched PBs in the LCM 100 fly (55.48), 200 fly (2:09.18), and 200 IM (2:07.91) at Speedo Summer Championships-East.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 fly – 1:49.65
  • 100 fly – 49.28
  • 400 IM – 3:59.55
  • 200 IM – 1:51.37
  • 100 back – 50.97
  • 200 back – 1:52.73

Ranier will join Auburn’s class of 2027 with Liam Heary and “Best of the Rest” recruits Andrew Billitto, Avery Henke, and Josh Noll. The Tigers came in 8th of 10 teams at the 2021 SEC Men’s Championships. Ranier will overlap with butterflyers Logan Tirheimer, Rusty Jerger, Nate Stoffle, Evan McInerny, and Jadan Nabor.

Harrison has some of the best fundamental technique I’ve witnessed in my 14 years of coaching swim. Unfortunately, I never had the honor of coaching Harrison, but I was able to witness his domination over the years. Not only is Auburn getting a fantastic swimmer, but they are also getting a man of character. Best of luck Harrison!
