Mikaela Macklin is a former Division I Honorable Mention All-American at San Diego State University. As an Aztec Mikaela was an IM and breaststroke specialist, and studied public relations and social psychology. She grew up with two Division I All-Americans for parents — the stars were aligned for she and her siblings to become athletes! As a student she enjoyed writing, media studies and public relations, which helped her receive the School of Journalism and Media Studies Outstanding Graduate and the Student-Athlete of the Year awards.
Although her swimming career ended after college graduation, Mikaela never lost her passion for the sport. She decided to hop out of the pool, and onto the deck, to test her potential as a coach. She is currently an Assistant Coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she specializes in coaching breaststroke and IM. She also is the Social Media Manager for San Diego-based nonprofit, California State Games, where she’s able to incorporate her passion for sports and media.
