Tuggle is the national age group (NAG) record holder in the 200 meter freestyle and 500 meter freestyle for both the 10 and under and 11-12 age groups. She also owns the record for short course 200 IM for the 11-12 age group. On the long course, Tuggle boasts the standard for the 400m free at the 10 and under and 11-12 age levels and the 200 free on the 11-12 level.
August 2017 – NCSA Junior National Swimming Championships
As a 13 year old, Tuggle won the 13-14 age group title in the 200 meter freestyle, 400 free and the 800 free. She also finished second in the 100 free.
In the 800 free, Tuggle posted an 8:43.57 to earn gold, a PR of more than 15 seconds. In the 200 free, the Clovis Swim Club member posted a 2:00.63 to take the title, a time which ranks eighth all-time in the age group behind Taylor Ruck and Katie Ledecky. In the 400, she posted a 4:15.45.
Tuggle finished second with a time of 56.74 in the 100 meter freestyle. The time ranks 19th all-time among the 13-14 age group.
March 2018 – NCSA Junior National Championships
Tuggle swam a 1:44.96 in the 200m free at the Junior National Championships in Orlando, the second fastest time ever in the 13-14 age group behind Missy Franklin’s 1:44.55 in 2010.
Tuggle posted a lifetime best (4:41.36), outdoing 15 year old Ashley Strouse and posting the fifth-best time for 13-14 year old girls in the 500 free.
Granite Ridge Intermediate School
Tuggle was named Granite Ridge Girls Athlete of the Year in 2018.
July 2018 – Phillips 66 National Championships
Tuggle recorded the second fastest 200 freestyle time ever by an American female in the 13-14 age group, posting a personal best 1:58.59 in the event preliminary round on July 26. The time is just six hundredths of a second off the American 13-14 record of 1:58.53 set by Sippy Brennan in 1978 and tops her previous best of 1:59.11 from the 2018 Irish Open in April.
