Mewen Tomac was right there in the mix, taking 4th in 2:01.26, while Carson Foster was 5th in 2:01.91.

Given how well Ledecky swam in the 1500 last night, we can expect a faster swim than 4:04 out of her tonight.
Rylee Erisman posted a 4:13.25 for 2nd this morning. Erisman was excellent in the 100 back last night, so we’ll see what she’s able to do in the 400 free. She was just ahead of Claire Weinstein, who stopped the clock in 4:13.60.

Bobby Finke and Ryan Erisman were close behind, each going 3:52.

Not to be picky but in the 400 Freestyle prelim summary, it states that Katie won the mile last night. She must have been awfully tired after racing and winning the 1500 as well 😉
Don’t think Shaine’s sick. McKean puts out vlogs and there’s one from earlier this week that lists “SC” under a practice from 1/12. Kinda doubt he was swimming in practice on Monday and sick by Wednesday
It’s not impossible to get sick within 2 days
A person can get sick literally overnight.
An elite athlete?
Yes, of course.
Do you actually live under rocks? Of course they can and they do.
Nah I just don’t get sick. Got more important things to be doing than waste mt time being sick
This is one reason why viruses spread. Some people think they don’t get sick.
Nope, elite athletes are immune to food poisoning, stomach bugs, flu, and colds. They’re superhuman.
not elephants though
Did you forget about the Thailand fiasco?
Also he’s on the list that got released today of pros signing next week at the Eddie Reese Showdown.
I don’t think that means much. Maybe the list was compiled last week and hasn’t been updated. Maybe he expects that he’ll be recovered by next week, which would be reasonable if he has something like the flu.
Well I hope he’s fine by then. Who else is on that list?
Yeah I brainfarted with my original comment and I ran with it. If he is sick, hopefully he’s alright
All 10 of the Texas pros are on it. Casas/Foster/Marchand/Smith/Hobson/Guiliano/Manuel/Kelly/McIntosh/Looney
Elendt isn’t on it but I think she raced at last year’s meet
are the Cal swimmers here not competing with their team in tomorrows dual meet with USC?
are they? would love to know
Interesting screen names out here
Why did TYR stop sponsoring this meet and also cut brand deals with a ton of swimmers?
No eyeballs on the meet. Their swimmers probably not showing up
Not sure I could name a TYR sponsored swimmer besides Ledecky (I guess?). Claire Curzan was announced in May, but posted about Deboer 3 days ago. On the TYR US website, the only mentions of swim are buried WAY down the homepage.
Does appear that their strategy has shifted away from swimming.
Bobby Finke is TYR
I think It’s just Ledecky and Finke now
I mean there is Gretchen Walsh but she’s not swimming this meet.
I thought she was arena?
Arena:

I think someone said USA swimming made the decision. But my half joking answer is that TYR is a crossfit company now
They make pickleball paddles too. Ivan Sanchez plays with one!
Is Michael Andrew one of them?
NYAC is sponsored by TYR as of 2024. unsure about now
Ig tariffs are affecting them
I hope Marchand goes all out tonight in the 200bk 🔥
Frankly, I would prefer that he scratches 200 IM 🙂, especially without Shane in it.
I was thinking that aswell tbh. He’ll hopefully do just enough to win it.
But it was so close in the 200 IM semis. It would be such a fun race to watch.
Give the swim nerds what they want!
Dressel has said in the past that his 50free speed is the last thing to come around. His back half on his 100fly shows he is deep in training now and there’s no reason to be alarmed by his 22 low 50free performances here.
Nobody is alarmed or worried about Dressel since 21. Move on, he already did.
I know he was like 3 seconds off of his PB, but any win is great to see from Dressel, even in prelims
