Andrej Barna Finding Success Implementing Cam McEvoy-Style Training and 50 Free Focus

2026 PRO SWIM SERIES – AUSTIN

Video captured by Anya Pelshaw.

After getting narrowly touched out in the 50 free at the US Open in Austin just over a month ago, Andrej Barna got his revenge in Texas this time around. Besting a field full of Olympic medals, Barna touched in 21.77 to take the win at the Pro Swim Series stop #1.

After his swim, Barna spoke to SwimSwam about how his training has changed drastically in the last two years and how implementing philosophies used by Cam McEvoy has helped his speed take great leaps in the pool.

He’s doing pretty different stuff, but the commonality is that it’s less than traditional stuff

This is kindof sadly true, as a biased American, I don’t pay enough attention to Australian swimming, and every time I see Cooper swim, I expect him to be better.
