Agostina Hein has picked up Argentine records in the latter half of 2025 like infinity stones. This weekend, she’s in São Paulo getting at least one more.

Hein, 17, won the women’s 100 free with a new national record of 54.16. The 400 IM Junior World Champion took the race out in 26.46 then came back in 27.70 to win by over a second. It takes down Maria Ruggiero’s 54.51 national benchmark from 2022.

The time also won the final of primarily Brazilian swimmers by over a second, establishing a new meet record for the open championships of Brazil’s largest state.

Many meet records fell on the first two nights of competition. Below is a list of new championship records apart from Hein:

  • Julia Rodrigues Vivian Diogo, women’s 1500 – 16:42.59
  • Sophia De Andrade Isidoro, women’s 100 IM – 1:03.02
  • Samuel De Oliveira Lopes, men’s 200 back – 1:53.01
  • Breno Martins, men’s 100 free – 47.50
  • Lucas Batista Gomes, men’s 50 fly – 23.23

Still on Hein’s agenda for this meet is the 200 and 400 free as well as the 200 and 400 IM. She broke national records in both mid-d free events at this meet last year. Lowering those records further would not come as a surprise, as 2025 has been a break out year for the young Buenos Aires native. This summer, she won three individual gold medals and a slew of relay silvers at the Junior Pan American Games. Immediately after that meet, she went to the Junior World Championships, picking up a world title in the 400 IM and silver in the 800 free.

Throughout the fall, Hein has competed in several meets in South America, downing more national records as she goes. Between short course and long course, she now holds eight individual NRs for the Albiceste.
