Olympic Gold Medalist Torri Huske Out Of 100 Fly, Focusing On 4×100 Free Relay

2025 World Championships

2024 Paris Olypic Gold Medalist Torri Huske will not race the 100 butterfly, USA Swimming has announced on X.

Huske was the #2 seed in the event with a time of a 55.52 that she swam at US Olympic Trials in June 2024. She went on to win gold in the event in Paris in a 55.59.

With Huske not racing, that leaves Gretchen Walsh as the only American swimmer. Walsh is the top seed as she is the World Record holder after posting a 54.60 in May at the Pro Series stop in Fort Lauderdale.

As announced by USA Swimming, Huske will focus on the women’s 4×100 free relay. Huske is not in the relay for this morning as the US opted for Erin Gemmell, Kate Douglass, Anna Moesch, and Simone Manuel. Both Huske and Walsh are expected to be on the finals relay as Huske finished 1st in the 100 free at US Summer Nationals while Gretchen Walsh was 2nd.

In addition to winning gold in the 100 fly last summer, Huske also won silver in the 100 free in a lifetime best 52.29. She also had the fastest split for the US as the women’s 4×100 free relay swam to silver behind Australia.

Seemed a silly choice to choose Thailand – there was a high probability of this happening. With Huske sick and Manuel a 54 low in prelims, door is wide open for Aussies to snatch the gold!

Eh, the facility has been used regularly by Australian clubs and other countries and hosted World Aquatics clinic events.

Bit of a difference going there for a training block vs using it as a staging camp the week before world champs.

Really bummed for Huske. She looked so good at trials, especially in freestyle
