Big 12 Finalist Quinlan Gould Transferring From Arizona State To Missouri

Quinlan Gould from Happy Valley, Oregon has announced he will transfer to Missouri for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Gould spent two seasons at Arizona State and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Gould arrived at Arizona State in fall 2023. He did not swim at Pac 12s as a freshman, instead swimming at the Arizona Senior State Championships at the end of February. There he swam a 48.82 100 back and a 1:44.63 200 back. Both were off his best times of a 47.48 in the 100 and a 1:43.62 in the 200 back that he swam at midseason.

This past season, Gould swam a lifetime best 46.96 100 back at midseason, He finished his season at Big 12s, swimming to a 14th place finish in the 100 back (47.99) as well as a 1:45.71 in the 200 back for 15th.

Gould’s Best SCY Times Are:

  • 100 back: 46.96
  • 200 back: 1:41.70
  • 200 IM: 1:51.87
  • 100 free: 45.32

The Missouri men finished finsihed 10th out of 11 teams at the 2025 SEC Championships. Diver Collier Dyer led the way with 53 individual points. Grant Bochenski led the way in the pool with 27 points including a 9th place finish in the 100 back (45.71). Bochenski just finished his senior season so Gould arrives at the perfect time for the backstroke group.

In addition to Gould’s arrival, former ASU teammate and fellow backstroker Brady Johnson has also announced his transfer to Missouri for this fall. Johnson has lifetime bests of a 46.65 100 back and a 1:42.69 200 back. Like Johnson, Gould’s backstroke times also have the potential to score at the conference level. Gould’s best time in the 200 back would have made the SEC ‘B’ final while his 100 back would have made the ‘C’ final.

Maybe if the head coach didn’t lead every conversation with “well my brother….” He would get these recruits off the bat, not having to rely on the portal

I don’t have any full stack data, but Luke Nebrich was a 20.28 50 freestyler out of HS and went 19.02 last season.

Zara Allen was a 49.38 freestyler out of HS and went 47.87 last season as a sophomore.

I was clicking around semi-randomly on SwimCloud and saw a lot more drops like that than swimmers who stagnated.
