Summary:
The Coach/Lead Swim Coach is responsible for the overall development and management of the Pinole Seals recreational swim team. This includes creating and implementing training plans, fostering a positive team environment, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all swimmers. This is a seasonal position running from April through July.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate training plans for swimmers aged 5-17, focusing on stroke technique, endurance, speed, and overall fitness.
- Conduct daily practices, providing clear instruction, motivation, and constructive feedback to swimmers of varying skill levels. Practices are held 5 days a week.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of swim meets, including lineup creation, swimmer assignments, and communication with other teams and league officials. This includes both mid-week and weekend meets.
- Ensure the safety of all swimmers during practices and meets by enforcing pool rules and maintaining a safe training environment.
- Foster a positive and supportive team environment that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and the swim team board regarding practice schedules, meet information, and team updates.
- Maintain accurate records of swimmer attendance, progress, and performance.
- Work collaboratively with other coaches to ensure consistent coaching and effective team management.
- Adhere to all league rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching a recreational, school, or club swim team is preferred. Accomplished competitive swimmers with a passion for teaching and developing young athletes are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques, training principles, and rules.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications (or willingness to obtain them before the start of the season).
- Must be available for daily practices and all scheduled swim meets, including weekends.
- Must pass a background check.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily outdoors at a swimming pool.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions (sun, heat, wind).
- Requires physical activity, including standing, walking, and demonstrating swimming techniques.
