Indian Swimmers Ocean Swimming Ke Liye Kaise Training Lete Hain

2018 me Malvan me 5km ki race ke dauran, Sanket Bhagwatkar ko sea water ko peene ke baad severe discomfort face karna pada tha. Iss month Mumbai Sea Swimmers Ultra me, unhone Arabian Sea me kadam rakhte hi unn galtiyon se bachne ki koshish ki aur ab tak ki apni sabse lambi open water swim ki. Iss baar, Bhagwatkar ne 4 hours 3 minutes ka sabse fastest time record kar ke 16km ki swimming me koi badha nahi daali.

30 saal ke Bhagwatkar kahte hain, “Ye second time tha jab main samudra me utar raha tha. Iss event se pahle maine 3 hafte Napal me trekking ki thi, isliye main practice se bhi bahar tha. Maine dhire-dhire start kiya aur apne flow ko samajhne se pahle tide ko samajhne me time liya.”

Iss event me 28 amateur open water swimmers ne participate kiya, jinhone 17 November ko Gateway of India and Mumbai me Atal Sethu Bridge ke beech swimming ki. Isme Bhagwatkar jaise solo swimmers ke alawa 7 mixed relay teams bhi shaamil thi, jinme teenagers ke saath-saath 8 saal se jada age ke log bhi shaamil the.

Mumbai ke rahne wale Zarir Baliwalla, jo kareeb ak decade se iss circuit par regularly aate rahe hain, ne AC/DZ naam ke four- member relay team me shaamil hone ka decision liya, jisne 4 hours 8 minutes me race complete ki.

Six-day ki weekly training routine ke through, unhone har mahine 40km ki distance cover karne ka target rakhte huye 2-4 baar swimming ki. Isme running and cycling bhi include tha, especially triathlon ki preparation ke dauran, jisme wo participate bhi karte hain, aur har mahine 50 to 60 km and 250km (distance) respectively cover karte hain.

Event se pahle ke weeks me, Susrita Sen ne organizing team  ke part ke roop me aur event ki taiyari ke dauran bahot kaam kiya, jahan wo akeli female swimmer thi. May me Thiland ke Krabi me 10km Oceanman Swimathon complete karne ke baad unhone sign up karne ka decision liya. June se August tak, unhone apni speed work and form correction par kaam kiya. Har week lagbhag 8-10km ki distance cover ki. August me Dusk to Dawn swim ke dauran, unhone 4 ghante me ak pool me 13km ki distance complete ki.

Burman ke under me Bengaluru me subah ki exercise karne ki permission di, uske baad gym me ak ghante ka strength session kiya. Baliwalla, jo apna khud ka business chalate hain, ne training ke liye kuch dinon me apne schedule ko manage karne ki luxury ko enjoy kiya. Marketing professional ke taur par Bhagwatkar ki dinbhar ki job me last few months me kaafi travelling involve thi aur wo pool wale hotels ki talash karte the taaki ye ensure ho sake ki unki coach Deepthi Indukuri dwara di gayi training plan sahi track pe chal rahi hai.

Har hafte 1.5-2 hours tak chalne wali four swim sessions ke alawa, Bhagwatkar ne 10km ki 2 race aur gym me wet training bhi include ki. October me, unhone Everest Base Camp tak trekking ki, jahan unhone lagbhag 3 weeks me 200km paidal yatra ki.

Event se 2 hafte pahle, ak team ne conditions ko samajhne ke liye route ki toh li aur participants ko bataya ki unhe kya ummeed karni chahiye.

Subah 6:30 baje, wo bay ke kareeb boat traffic ko carefully cross karte huye choppy waters me tairne lage. Relay team ke har ak member ne 45 minutes ki duration tak swimming ki, uske baad ak teammate ko aage badhne diya. Solo swimmers ke liye, tide se uthne wale early challenge ko dekhne ke liye, ye ak patient waiting game ka khel tha.

Bhagwatkar kahte hain, aapko sach me present me rahna hoga kyunki man ka bhatakna easy hai. Yahi time hota hai jab stroke aur breathing gadbada jaati hai. Isliye focus karna important tha.

4-5 ghante tak chalne wali swimming ke dauran, aap apne aap ko kho dete hain aur ye mentally challenging ho sakta hai. Isliye boat par saath chalne wale crew members ak great distraction hote hain aur aapko khel me banaye rakhte hain.
