CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women’s Swimming and Diving cruised to a 206-93 home decision vs. Columbia on Friday afternoon at Blodgett Pool. The win pushed the Crimson to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Ivy League. The Lions, meanwhile, fell to 0-3 (0-3 Ivy).
What to Know
- Harvard won 14 of 16 events on the afternoon to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2022-23.
- The Crimson opened and closed the meet with victories in the relays, first capturing the 400 medley relay before finishing with the 400 free relay. Anya Mostek, Stephanie Iannaccone, Sydney Lu and Molly Hamlin began the day with a winning time of 3:47.13. Then in the finale, Lu, Kaylee McDonald, Alexandra Bastone and Hamlin won the event by finishing in 3:24.13.
- Of the relay swimmers, Bastone, Iannaccone, Hamlin and Lu were two-time winners in the individual events. Bastone was victorious in the 500 (4:56.16) and 1,000 free (10:07.71), with Iannaccone emerging with decisions in the 200 breast (2:17.30) and 200 IM (season-best 2:03.52). Hamlin, meanwhile, led a group of four Crimson swimmers to occupy the top-4 spots in the 200 free. The senior won the event in 1:51.91 and was followed by McDonald (1:52.51), Gabriella Augustyn (1:54.05) and Payton Foster (1:55.47). Hamlin also won the 200 back, logging a time of 2:01.48.
- Lu swept the butterfly events, winning the 50 and the 200. In the 50 fly, the junior completed the race in 24.87. In the 200 fly, Lu finished ahead of the pack with a season-best time of 2:02.16.
- Harvard also won the 50 back (Mostek – 26.15) and 50 breast (Mandy Brenner – 29.62).
- On the diving side of things, the Crimson took both of the events, with Amy Wotovich finishing in first on the 3-meter board with a season-high score of 307.13. The senior was followed by Remi Edvalson (season-best 299.18), Elizabeth Miclau (290.03) and Nina Janmyr (269.93). Janmyr, meanwhile, closed her day with a victory in the 1-meter competition, posting a season-best score of 320.33.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men’s Swimming and Diving prevailed in its home opener on Friday evening, taking down Columbia, 201-99. The win improved the Crimson’s record to 3-0 on the season (3-0 Ivy League), while Lions dropped to 1-3 (1-3 Ivy).
What to Know
- Harvard improved to 3-0 for the fourth straight season with today’s victory.
- The Crimson swept the relays, capturing the 200 medley and 400 free. In the former, Anthony Rincon, Joshua Chen, Aayush Deshpande and Sonny Wang outswam the field, posting a time of 1:28.27. The latter group of Wang, David Greeley, Oliver Pilkinton and Rincon mirrored the effort, finishing in first and clocking in at 1:20.92.
- Greeley added to his winning total, securing victories in the 200 free and 100 free. The junior finished the 200 with a time of 1:37.50, and then completed the 100 in 44.47.
- Sophomore David Schmitt swept the butterfly competitions, winning the 200 in 1:46.92, and the 100 in 48.41.
- After a program-record performance in the 1-meter diving event a week ago at Cornell, Adam Wesson nearly equaled his 398.65, with a 398.40 winning effort today. The senior also opened his night by emerging victorious in the 3-meter competition (381.53).
- Rincon led a trio of Crimson swimmers who finished 1-2-3 in the 100 back. The senior won the event with a time of 48.29, with Pilkinton (49.46) and Deshpande (49.72) securing the other two steps on the podium.
- Ben Littlejohn won the 500 free with a time of 4:31.85. The senior was followed in order by Harris Durham (4:35.15), Tristan Dalbey (4:35.81) and Shane Washart (4:37.74) to claim the top four slots on the leaderboard.
- Wang, a sophomore, won the 50 free (19.83), while first-year classmates Chen and Adriano Arioti won the 100 breast (55.23) and 200 back (1:46.57), respectively.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Columbia women’s swimming and diving team hit the road for the first time this season on Friday afternoon, making the trip to Cambridge for a meet against the Harvard Crimson. Despite some strong performances from the Lions, Harvard came away with a 206-93 win.
“Lots of great swims today,” Head Coach Diana Caskey said. “Going 1-2 in the 50 and 100 free was a highlight for sure. We had some places where we could have been better but it was our first away meet, so we will get better!”
Emily MacDonald’s amazing start to the 2024-25 season continued, as she won both sprints yet again. MacDonald took the 50 free with a time of 23:17, before winning the 100 free with a time of 50:22.
Sally Ma finished directly behind MacDonald in both events, securing a 1-2 finish for Columbia. She touched the wall at 23:44 in the 50 free and 51.65 in the 100 free.
In the first individual event of the day, Mia Avansino earned second place in the 1000 free with a solid time of 10:20.13.
Jilly MacNamara had one of the best performances of her young career, taking second in the 200 back with a time of 2:01.59.
As for the divers, Valeriya Bondarenko had the Lions’ top score on the 3m boards at 265.65, while Chloe Leung led the way on the 1m boards with a score of 245.70
“The Lions competed well today,” Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. “Definitely upward trending. Very proud of this group and looking forward to the Invitational after break!”

Next up, the Lions will look to defend their title once again at the ECAC Winter Championships in East Meadow. At the same time, Columbia will be comepeting against the Princeton women at the Big Al Invite in New Jersey.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Columbia men’s swimming and diving team was on the road again Friday evening, and took on the Harvard Crimson in an Ivy meet. The Lions had some great swims, but ultimately the Crimson came away with a 201-99 win.
Stephen Zhukov got things started with a bang, winning the first individual swimming event of the day. He touched the wall first in the 1650 free, clocking in at 15:35.68.
Joshua Corn also had a solid day, winning the 200 breast with a time of 1:59.42. He also took home second in the 100 breast with a time of 55.38.
Columbia went 2-3 in the 50 free, led by Zion James with a time of 20.42. Samuel Eckert clocked in at 20.54 to take third.
Gian Santos continued his strong rookie campaign, winning the 400 IM with a time of 3:57.62. He also placed second in the 200 free thanks to a time of 1:37.78.
The divers had a solid night, led by Joseph Nicol who’s best performance came on the 3m boards as he placed second with a score 348.68. He also took third in the 1m competition with a score of 304.20. Will Cooley had some solid dives, earning a point on both boards.
“The greatest part of this game is how the players can adapt and create magic in the moment,” Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. “We did that today!”

Columbia will have next week off, before returning to action for the Big Al Invite in New Jersey which will begin on Friday, December 6.
