Kristof Milak Set For 200 Butterfly Prelims On Day 5 Of Competition In Serbia

Some quick 50s will start of the morning with the women’s 50 free first. Hungary’s Petra Senanszky holds the top seed entered with a 24.57. She notably is the national record holder in the event. Senanszky notably finished 9th in the event at the 2022 European Championships.

Peter John Stevens of Slovenia enters as the top seed in the men’s 50 breast. He will look to put the country on the medal table tomorrow night.

Ireland’s Danielle Hill enters as the top seed in the women’s 100 backstroke and already made waves this week as she won the 50 backstroke last night. Hill is one of only three swimmers to have cracked the 1:00 mark as Poland’s Adela Piskorska and Belgium’s Roos Vanotterdijk are the #2 and 3 seeds.

The men’s 200 fly looks to turn out to be an exciting race. World Record holder in the event Kristof Milak enters as the top seed. So far in Serbia, Milak has won the 100 fly, finished just off of the podium in the 100 free, and missed semifinals of both the 50 fly and 200 freestyle. 2023 World Championship silver medalist in the event Krzysztof Chmielewski of Poland enters as the #2 seed and will look to challenge Milak for Poland’s potential first gold tomorrow night.

After winning the women’s 400 IM in the 2nd fastest time of her career, Anastasia Gorbenko of Israel will look to make her way towards the final of the women’s 200 IM as she comes in as the top seed for prelims. Gorbenko is the Israeli national record holder in the event and the only sub-2:10 entry here.

Ukraine’s Mykhailo Romanchuk won the 800 freestyle earlier this week and will look to win the 1500 free as well coming into prelims as the top seed. Silver and bronze medalists in the 800 free from this week Dimitrios Markos (Greece) and Zalan Sarkany (Hungary) are also entered in the 1500 prelims session.
