Sienna Nitke, a 49-time Ashwaubenon Swim Club Record Holder, to Attend Purdue University

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Purdue University received a commitment this past November from freestyle specialist and high school junior, Sienna Nitke. Nitke is a multi-time Speedo Sectionals and Wisconsin Senior Championships finalist. Additionally, she holds an astonishing 49 total team records at the age group level for her Ashwaubenon Swim Club.

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Purdue University,” Nitke said. “I’m so grateful for my family, friends, and coaches who helped me along the way. Boiler up!”

Nitke swims for Ashwaubenon Swim Club year round, located about two hours north of the University of Wisconsin. She recently competed at Speedo Sectionals in Fargo, where she was a four-time finalist. In the 50m freestyle Nitke placed second, clocking a time of 27.34 seconds. Additionally, she finished 3rd in the 100m free (58.67), 4th in the 200m free (2:08.04), and 5th in the 400m free (4:33.71).

Nitke was a four-time ‘A’ finalist at the Wisconsin Senior Short Course Championships in February. She earned silver in the 100 freestyle, touching in 50.75 seconds. Other top 8 finishes for Nitke at the Championships included a 5th place finish in the 50 free (23.71), 4th in the 200 free (1:50.82), and 7th in the 100 IM (59.81).

Nitke’s high school team, Ashwaubenon High School, came 3rd overall at the 2022 Wisconsin Division 2 High School State Championships. Nitke contributed 33 points at the meet, placing 2nd in the 100 free (50.57) and 3rd in the 200 free (1:50.94). At the Wisconsin High School Sectionals meet the weekend prior, Nitke won the 200 free with a time of 1:53.15.

Top Times (SCY):

  • 50 free- 23.71
  • 100 free- 50.57
  • 200 free- 1:50.52
  • 500 free- 4:58.36

Purdue women’s swimming finished 7th at this season’s Big 10 Conference Championships. The Purdue divers produced the top 5 leading scorers on the team at Big 10s, led by sophomore Sophia McAfee. McAfee placed 5th on both 3M and 10M boards at Big 10s, then proceeded to qualify for the consolation final in both events at the 2023 NCAA Championships.

On the swimming side of the Big 10 Championships, Hannah Hill finished 17th for Purdue in the 50 freestyle, posting a new personal best and NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 22.56 seconds. Lindsay Turner put up a big swim for the Boilermakers in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:58.46 to pick up 10th place.

Nitke looks to join a 2024 Purdue recruiting class alongside Caroline Frazier, Adele Sands, and Campbell Scofield. Nitke’s best times in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyles, while still far from scoring range at Big 10s, each would have placed her 4th in Purdue’s team rankings for the 2022-23 season.
