Sectional Champion Butterflier Charlotte Sevin Commits to SDSU

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Charlotte Sevin, a Speedo Sectionals Champion and senior at California High School in San Ramon, has verbally committed to San Diego State University.

I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at San Diego State University! I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for their support throughout my swimming career and recruiting process. Go Aztecs!”

At the 2022 California state Swimming and Diving Championships, Sevin finished 10th in the 100 fly. She also participated in the swimming and diving championships for the East Bay Athletic League–a high school sports league in the North Coast part of California. At those championships, she finished 2nd in the 100 fly and 3rd in the 100 back.

Sevin also competes for the Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks, where she qualified for the 2022 West Speedo Winter Juniors and swam the 100 fly, 100 back, and 200 fly. Earlier in the year, at the 2022 summer California/Nevada Speedo Sectionals, Sevin won the 200 fly and the 100 fly. In the 100 fly, Sevin swam a 1:01.83, dropping over a second from her previous best time. In the 200 fly, she swam a 2:17.63, her first time ever swimming under 2:20 in the event.

Sevin has a current Winter Juniors cut in the 200 fly, and a Winter U.S. Open cut in the 100 fly. She also has a 2023 USA Swimming Futures cut in the 100 back.

Best short-course yards times:

  • 100 fly: 55.23
  • 200 fly: 2:01.11
  • 100 back: 56.05

SDSU is a member of the Mountain West Conference. At the 2022 women’s Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships, SDSU won the meet, its sixth conference title in the past 12 years. That win also marked the highest point total SDSU had ever scored with 1,541.5 points. With her best times, Sevin could’ve made the B finals of the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 100 at that meet.

SDSU has continued its impressive performance after topping the conference last year. It has won all but one of its meets, coming in 2nd at the Chick-fil-A Invite against six other teams. Despite this success, the team relies on mostly juniors and seniors to fill its butterfly program. Only freshman Emily Tenczar, who was poised to be one of the top butterfliers on the team and has been the 4th-fastest 100 butterflier on the team this season, is an underclassman.

Sevin joins diver Jessica Schroeder in the SDSU class of 2027.
