Katie Grimes broke multiple 15-16 NAGs, Texas Swim Center Pool records, and personal bests this weekend… but did not hit one of her goal times. The Olympian and worlds medalist breaks down how this resonates with her and what she’s looking forward to once she gets home to Las Vegas.

Serious question, has anyone ever had a more grueling event lineup at a major meet than what Grimes just did? Surely no one can match the single day ridiculousness of her 1650/2back/2fly/400FR Saturday, right?

I can’t wait to watch her race at the NCAA level. Any predictions on where she will swim in college?
hard to picture her anywhere but Florida.
I feel like most people are thinking she’ll end up at Florida like Sims. She has clearly mentioned looking up to Ledecky and there’s no clear star female distance program in the NCAA right now, so Florida feels like the favorite given their LCM results so far. The training at Florida is also probably the closest match to Sandpipers as well.
Florida, if anywhere. It’s a school the Sandpipers gravitate towards because they’re also not afraid to still keep up the yardage.
I’d love to hear her goal times for the 2023 USA Swimming International Team Trials:
W 200 FR
W 400 FR
W 800 FR
W 1500 FR
W 400 IM (Katie Hoff’s record, perhaps?)
Maybe she should have been at the US Open last week swimming against equal competition.
Nah Winter Juniors was way more fun and arguably similar competition depending on the event.
It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
There is always the TYR Pro Swim Series next year.
Let her be a junior and have fun with her teammates. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future for her to go to the US Open.
