Day 2 of the South Carolina Senior State meet wrapped up on Friday, with swimmers competing in the men’s and women’s 200 free, 100 breast, 200 fly, 50 free, and 400 IM.
After helping the defending state champions and hosts Y-Spartaquatics win both the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay on Thursday, Cal commit Annika McEnroe picked up a few individual wins, helping Y-Sparaquatics maintain its lead on the girls’ side.
McEnroe led the way for Y-Spartaquatics, winning the girls 100 breast (1:02.28), 200 fly (1:58.91) and 400 IM (4:17.88). While none of those times were personal bests for the 18-year old, her time in the 100 breast was just off of her PB of 1:02.01. She was also the only swimmer in the field to finish the 200 fly in under 2 minutes, and the only swimmer to break 4:20 in the 400 IM.
Also swimming well was McEnroe’s younger sister, Kirsti, who won the first event of the day, the 200 free, in 1:48.29. The 16-year old was the only swimmer in the field to break 1:50. She also competed in the 400 IM (4:24.17), finishing 3rd, and the 200 fly (2:03.63), where she finished 5th in a personal best time.
On the boys’ side, James Winterfield of South Carolina Swim Club posted the top time in the 200 free, finishing in 1:41.35. That is a new best time for him by almost a second. He also finished second in the 200 fly behind Y-Spartaquatics’s Robin Domingo (1:51.43) in a PB of 1:52.89.
Also picking up a win was Team Greenville’s Silas Crosby, an Army West Point commit, who won the 400 IM in 4:01.55. His best time sits at a 3:57.56.
Other Day 2 Winners:
- Coastal Aquatic Club’s Harrison Clinton won the boys’ 100 breast in 57.16, a PB by .3.
- Michelle Case of the Upper Palmetto YMCA Stingrays won the girls’ 50 free in 23.45 while Caleb Eidson of Hilton Head Aquatics won the boys’ event in 20.93, just .2 off of his PB of 20.73. He was the only swimmer in the field to finish under 21.
