A native of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Campbell McCarthy has announced her commitment to join the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs following her graduation in the spring. McCarthy competes for Team Greenville as well as her high school, Woodmond High School.
Last October, at the 2019 SCHSL (South Carolina High School) 5A Swimming and Diving State Championships, she placed in the top-8 of both her events. She finished 5th in the 100 fly (59.01) and 4th in the 200 IM (2:10.23). Her time in the 200 IM was also good for a new best time.
More recently, at the 2020 Champions Series in Cary, she swam to 6 new best times, including a 57.74 in the 100 fly and a 2:10.11 in the 200 fly.

Gardner-Webb took 7th last year at the 2020 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCAA) Championships. With her best times, Campbell would have been a C-finalist in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM.
Last season Gardner-Webb had a strong IM group that was led by Jessi Snover (junior) in the 200 and Spencer Lucas (senior) in the 400. Snover, who took 2nd in the event at the CCSA Championships, had the team’s highest finish at the meet.
