Ella Glaspie of Highland, Michigan has announced her verbal commitment to Illinois State University. A current high school junior, Glaspie will be a part of Illinois State University’s class of 2025. She swims year round with Kingfish Aquatic Club.

Glaspie competed at the Michigan Swimming LSC Open Long Course State Championships this summer, taking third in the 800 free (9:31.11) as well as seventh in the 200 free (2:11.78) and the 200 IM (2:32.47). At the MCSA Senior Cup Championship last spring Glaspie was tenth in the 100 free (54.08) and fifth in the 200 free (1:53.81).

Glaspie still has another year to improve her times before arriving on campus in the fall of 2021. At the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships it took a 53.48/1:56.78/5:04.31 to score in the B-final of the freestyle events.
This is a more aggressive recruiting timeline than we usually see from Illinois State, but with their new head coach Caitlin Hamilton coming from top-10 team Indiana, which competes at a level where junior commitments are now the norm, that has helped spark some momentum for the Redbirds.
