Futures Qualifier Shauna Killane Commits to Rhode Island

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Shenendehowa High School’s Shauna Killane has committed to swim at the University of Rhode Island beginning in the fall of 2019. On Twitter she shared,

Shauna, who swims for the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Piranhas, recently competed at the Adirondack Gold Short Course Championships. She swam a wide range of events, adding points to her team’s overall score. She placed in 3rd in both the 100 and 200 fly, 8th in the 400 IM, 11th in the 1650, and 16th in the 100 free.

In November she earned a 2019 Futures cut in the 100 fly, placing 2nd at the Girls Sec II Division I Championships with a time of 57.27.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 fly – 57.27
  • 100 free – 53.04
  • 200 fly – 2:09.28
  • 200 free – 1:54.95
  • 400 IM – 4:38.64
  • 100 breast – 1:09.86

Shauna’s top times would have made her the Rams’ second fastest 200 flyer and 3rd fastest 100 flyer during the 2018-2019 season. Her 100 and 200 free times rank her at the team’s 4th fastest spot, which could earn her a leg on the 400 and 800 free relays in the fall.
