Top 4 Teams Make Single-Swimmer Swaps For Euro Women’s 4×200 Final

2018 LEN EUROPEAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Each of the top four qualifying teams have made swaps of one swimmer from the prelims lineup heading into finals of the women’s 4×200 free relay.

Top qualifier Russia should get a big boost, subbing in Anastasia Guzhenkovawho was 1:56.77 individually, for Irina Krivonogova. Krivonogova was the only member of the relay this morning above two minutes on her split.

Great Britain should get a similar boost. 17-year-old Freya Anderson is in after splitting 1:55.8 on the mixed 4×200 free relay earlier this week. She takes over for 2:01 morning leg Lucy Hope, who was only a tick faster on the relay than she was individually.

Germany is pulling in distance swimmer Sarah Koehlerwho has previously been 1:58 in an individual 200 free. That’d be about a two-second upgrade. France gets likely the biggest upgrade, going from 2:00 Alizee Morel to 1:54.9 European champ Charlotte BonnetThat difference alone would have moved their prelims finish from 4th to 2nd, though the other relays should also get significantly faster tonight.

About Jared Anderson

Jared Anderson

Jared Anderson swam for nearly twenty years. Then, Jared Anderson stopped swimming and started writing about swimming. He's not sick of swimming yet. Swimming might be sick of him, though. Jared was a YMCA and high school swimmer in northern Minnesota, and spent his college years swimming breaststroke and occasionally pretending …
