In that case, we really don’t need to know more. I hope everything’s alright though.

You’re really not entitled to know more no matter what happened.

Does anyone know why she’s scratching the meet? When there’s this much anticipation for the Oleksiak/Manuel rematch, it’s probably better to say something before people make too many assumptions.

The real match up will come in Hungary. I’ve heard she’s had some illness and injury this year so why travel that far when she could get some hard training in instead? Her coach makes decisions based on what’s best for her, not based on what us as swim fans would think. It is a shame not to see her swim though yes, but hopefully it means when we do see her in summer it’ll be worth the wait.

There’s also the possibility that she’s got too much school work to travel right now. There are a number of possibilities. I’m just saying it would be nice to have some sort of official word.

I see Van Landenghem also DNS today. Perhaps it was a team decision (or bug)?

Neither did Kayla Sanchez who also trains with the group. Of the High Performance Center, it looks like only Rebecca Smith and Sandrine Mainville competed today. Could be a bunch of them are staying home for some extra training instead.

Why does her coach even enter her in these meets and get everyone’s hopes up just to scratch out?
