RedHawks Host Ball State and Buffalo this Weekend

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University women’s swimming and diving team is back in the pool for an action-filled weekend against Mid-American Conference rivals Ball State and Buffalo. Ball State comes to town on Friday, Oct. 30, to take on the RedHawks at 5 p.m. Miami then hosts Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. Both meets will take place in the Nixon Aquatic Center.

The RedHawks are coming off a 185-115 loss at MAC foe Eastern Michigan, which dropped their dual meet record to 1-2. Miami looks to get back on the winning track this weekend, as the RedHawks could potentially extend their record to 3-2.

Juniors Stephanie LeMire and Pei Lin both won two events against Eastern Michigan, combining for the only four RedHawk wins on the day.

Ball State and Buffalo have already met this season, in a double dual meet with McMaster. Buffalo defeated Ball State, 219.5-79.5 and McMaster, 240.5-57.50. The Cardinals also beat McMaster, 157-141.

The Cardinals previously lost to Akron, 221-78, and Toledo, 195-105. They also competed in the Indiana Intercollegiate meet, where they finished second out of eight teams, only losing to Purdue. Ball State finished last in the MAC last season, and were predicted to do the same in 2015-16.

Buffalo was picked to finish fourth in the conference this season, which is where it finished last year, just edging the fifth-place RedHawks. The Bulls competed in the Florida Gulf Coast University Classic earlier this season, finishing fifth out of six teams. They also took on Cornell in a non-scored meet, winning 12 events.
