EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State swimming & diving program announced the hiring of Amelia Marsh to its staff on Wednesday. Marsh spent last season as a part-time coach with the Spartans, working primarily with the distance swimmers.
“I’m extremely happy to have Amelia on our staff,” said head coach Matt Gianiodis. “She is a former Big Ten swimmer with great experience both in the pool and coaching. Amelia is from the area and a wonderful addition to the Spartan Family.”
Prior to working with MSU’s distance corps, Marsh was the coach of the Spartan Swim Club in the Lansing area, which was comprised of athletes from Haslett, Okemos and East Lansing.
“I’m very excited to be part of the Spartan family,” Marsh said. “I grew up a Michigan State fan and am honored for the opportunity to work for such an impressive university. I’m looking forward to an exceptional season with the swimming & diving program.”
Marsh was a freestyle specialist for Minnesota from 2010-14 and was a part of three Big Ten team titles. She also was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, earning the honor in 2011 and 2014, in addition to qualifying for nationals in short course in 2013.
A graduate of Okemos High School, Marsh earned her bachelor’s degree in health and wellness from the University of Minnesota in 2014. The Haslett, Michigan, native comes from family of swimmers, as her father, Terry, swam at Toledo.
