Male Swimmer of the Week
Dan Wallace • Florida
Senior • North Berwick, Scotland
With Florida finishing in first place in the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational, Wallace earned spots in the National Ranks in the events he competed in this past weekend: 200 Free (5th, 1:35.27); 500 Free (1st, 4:14.53); 1,650 Free (11th, 15:16.42); 200 Breast (37th, 2:00.07); and 400 IM (2nd, 3:44.12). He took first place in the 500 free and the 400 IM and was part of the first-place squads in the 400 and 800 freestyle relays.
Male Diver of the Week
Tyler Henschel • Texas A&M
Freshman • Sherwood Park, Alberta
Henschel went toe-to-toe with three-time NCAA Champion diver Kristian Ipsen of Stanford in both springboard dives, with Ipsen edging out Henschel in both dives – 413.55 to 381.10 on the 1m and 415.90 to 404.15 on the 3m. He won the platform with a score of 398.35, which ranks No. 4 on A&M’s all-timer performer list. Henschel’s season-best 381.10 on the 1m ranks No. 6 on A&M list and his season-best 404.15 on the 3m also ranks No. 6.All three of his scores from the weekend were collegiate lifetime bests.
Male Freshman of the Week
Caeleb Dressel • Florida
Freshman • Green Cove Springs, Fla.
Dressel finished first in several individual and relay events as the Gators took first place in the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational. He is ranked nationally in the following events from this past weekend: 50 Free (2nd, 19.31), 100 Free (2nd, 42.91), 100 Breast (20th, 54.39), 100 Fly (1st, 46.60), 200 IM (2nd, 1:48.26).
Female Swimmer of the Week
Sarah Henry • Texas A&M
Senior • Garner, N.C.
Henry was the only individual at the Art Adamson to win four individual events (Stanford’s Simone Manuel and Janet Hu had three individual wins each). She tallied an NCAA A cut in the 400 IM, and had B cuts in the 1650 free, 200 free, 500 free and 200 IM along with the 800 free relay. After the weekend, Henry leads the nation in the 200- and 400-yard IM, ranks No. 2 in the 500 and 1,650 free and No. 3 in the 1,000 free.
Female Diver of the Week
Lauren Reedy • Missouri
Junior • Rochester Hills, Mich.
Junior Lauren Reedy swept the springboards and set two personal bests at the Mizzou Invite last weekend. She claimed the win on 3-meter with after tallying a career best 358.65 points in finals, a score that also moved her into second all-time at Mizzou in the event. Reedy then took first on 1-meter for her fourth win on that event in five tries this season. In her first time completing platform in 2014-15, Reedy notched a career best 257.10 points in prelims and ultimately finished fifth on the event.
Female Freshman of the Week
Bethany Galat • Texas A&M
Freshman • Mishawaka, Ind.
With the Aggies taking first place in the Art Adamson Invitational, Galat achieved season-bests and NCAA “B” cuts in five individual races — 200 IM, 50 free, 400 IM, 100 breast and 200 breast — along with the 200 free relay. After the weekend, she ranks in the top 8 nationally in four events, including No. 2 in the 200 IM and 200 breast.
Jared Anderson swam for nearly twenty years. Then, Jared Anderson stopped swimming and started writing about swimming. He's not sick of swimming yet. Swimming might be sick of him, though.
