2nd-Generation D1 Swimmer Jordan Buechler Commits to West Virginia

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jordan Buechler from Springfield, Virginia has announced her commitment to West Virginia University for 2020-21. That will put her in the class of 2024 with Abby Reardon, Paige Dressel, and Shelby Gerving. Both Buechler’s parents swam in college; her father was at the College of William and Mary while her mother swam at James Madison University.

“After careful consideration, I am quite pleased to announce that I have committed to swim and study engineering at West Virginia University! Many thanks to my parents, other relatives, teammates, club coaches, teachers, and friends for advising me throughout this process. Go Mountaineers!”

Buechler is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who plans to study engineering in college. She is currently a senior at West Springfield High School and swims year-round for Machine Aquatics (her teammate Joe Schaefer will also be in the class of 2024 at WVU). Buechler placed 8th in the 100 fly (57.64) and 11th in the 200 IM (2:08.13) at the 2019 Virginia 6A State Championships in her junior year season. She also anchored the medley relay (23.80) and the 400 free relay (51.77). Since then, she has had quite a bit of success in LCM. This summer she improved her lifetime bests in the 50/100/400 free, 50 back, and 200/400 IM. She competed this week at U.S. Open and notched PBs in the 100m back (1:04.39), 100 fly (1:01.96), and 200 free (2:04.99).

Buechler is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 back and 100 fly and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 free. Her top SCY times include:

  • 200 free – 1:49.51
  • 100 free – 52.05
  • 50 free – 23.81
  • 100 fly – 55.76
  • 100 back – 57.15
  • 100 breast – 1:05.27
  • 200 IM – 2:05.28

Buechler would have been in the Mountaineers’ top-5 or top-6 in the 200 free, 100 back, 100 breast 100 fly, and 200 IM last season.
