Day 3 of the 2018 Women’s NCAA Championships will feature the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 200 medley relay.
A number of swimmers scratched the 400 IM in favor of swimming one of the stroke 100s later on — the scratches include Matea Samardzic, Erin Palsha, Amanda Richey, Carly Cummings, Cecelia Williams, and Anna Jahns.
Texas A&M’s #12 seed Beryl Gastaldello has scratched the 100 fly after taking 5th in the 50 free last night. Minnesota’s Tevyn Waddell, the #35-seed, has also scratched. Gastaldello and Waddell are joined by Erin Seymour, Kylie Stewart, and Ashton Ellzey.
Michigan’s Rose Bi and G Ryan, the #16- and #43-seeds, have scratched the 200 free. Both had “off” swims in the 500 final yesterday, with Bi adding over 1.5 seconds from prelims and Ryan adding 6. Other scratches include #20-seed Veronica Burchill, who will swim the 100 fly instead, Kaersten Meitz, Laine Reed, Autumn Heibig, Casey Fanz, Claire Fisch, and Emma Seiberlich.
Wisconsin’s Marissa Berg, the #42-seed, is the only scratch from the 100 breast.
Nine women have scratched the 100 back, the highest seeded of whom was Virginia’s Abigail Richter at #38. The other scratches include Caitlin Cooper, Zoe Avestruz, Chelsea Britt, Grace Haskett, Ky-lee Perry, Cameron McHugh, Haley Black, and Bailey Scott.
