Full Day 4 finals results

In the girls’ 100 breast, the versatile Meghan Small took a sledgehammer to the YMCA national record of 1:01.18 set in 2015 by Alyssa Arwood. She swam a 1:00.24, nearly breaking a minute, which is impressive for someone who excels primarily in IM and impressive in and of itself. For the boys, Max McHugh was a touch off of his big morning swim of 53.00, winning the event in a 53.16.

Courtney Harnish picked up another win tonight, taking the 500 free in a time of 4:42.51, off of her 2014 YMCA national record of 4:39.13. Finishing up in 2nd was Indiana commit Cassy Jernberg (4:43.98), followed by 15-year-old Leah Braswell at 4:46.42. Harnish and Braswell are teammates on York YMCA.

Grant House, who won the 200 free last night, took top honors in the boys’ 500 with a time of 4:22.96. He finished ahead of a battle for second, where Drew Clark edged out Hank Siefer, 4:24.52 to 4:24.65.

In the 50 free, Hugo Sykes, who threw down multiple sub-20 splits on relays earlier in this meet, earned the win with a time of 20.33. He finished ahead of Jay Bell (20.55) and Edward Rudman (20.57). The entire A final dipped under 21 seconds, along with the top six in the B final and the top two in the C final.

Ky-lee Perry, who will swim for the NC State Wolfpack next season, swam an impressive 22.27 to win the girls’ 50 free. That moves her into the top-25 all time for the 17-18 age group. She was followed by three other swimmers under 23 seconds: Bailey Grinter (22.62), Olivia Schmelzer (22.87), and Sarah Grinalds (22.98). Grinter and Schmelzer are 16, while Grinalds is only 15. In addition, Grinalds pulled off this speed after swimming a 4:50.63 to win the 500 free B final.

The York girls easily won the 800 free relay in 7:12.16, with a 1:46.86 lead off from Harnish and a 1:45.55 anchor leg from Small.

The Sarasota boys broke their team’s Y-Nat record in the 800 free relay, swimming a 6:35.21 to knock off the old mark of 6:37.01 set last year at this meet. They led off with two 1:37’s from Austin Katz and Danny Erlenmeyer, and no team would come close to catching them. Grant House did split a quick 1:36.23 on the end of Countryside’s 2nd place relay, which clocked a 6:42.14 in a come-from-behind finish over Wilton.
