Winter Jrs Qualifier Paige Hamilton Verbals to Vanderbilt

Highlander Aquatics butterflier/freestyler Paige Hamilton has given her verbal commitment to Vanderbilt University. Hamilton has qualified for Winter Junior Nationals with her 100 fly SCY best time of 54.95, and is a senior at Lake Highland Preparatory School.

Hamilton’s Top Times

  • 50y free – 23.78
  • 100y free – 51.73
  • 200y free – 1:53.42
  • 50y fly – 25.04
  • 100y fly – 54.95
  • 200y IM – 2:07.14

Hamilton fits in as a sprint butterflier, but has speed in freestyle that can be used for relay firepower for the Commodores. She would’ve been their 3rd fastest 100 freestyler last season.

While not quite ready to score yet at the SEC level (Hamilton’s best shot is the 100 fly, where it took a 53-mid to make it back to the C final at last year’s championships), Hamilton looks to fit in as a relay piece while she develops her individual sprints. She has a good shot, with her current best times, to swim on a couple relays for the Commodores as a freshman; probably the sprint free relays, and maybe as butterflier on their medleys if she continues to improve substantially.

Vanderbilt finished 12th of 12 teams in the SEC last year, and Hamilton will join a program fighting to get back into the thick of things in, arguably, the toughest swimming & diving conference in the NCAA.
