WATCH: Zack Chetrat On His Olympic Preperation

2016 CANADIAN OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TRIALS

Zack Chetrat will be competing in both the 100 and 200m butterfly events at this year’s 2016 Canadian Trials.

This time around is all about redemption for Chetrat. At the 2012 Olympic Trials Chetrat just missed qualifying for the Olympic team by 0.02 seconds, losing to David Sharpe in the final.

Since then Chetrat has made sure to establish himself as the best 200 flyer in the nation, having a breakthrough last summer at the 2015 Pan American Games. There, Chetrat finished second in the 200 fly in a new Canadian record of 1:56.90.

On the road to Rio Chetrat has been training with world renowned sprint coach Ben Titley at the High Performance Centre – Ontario searching for a new angle to get him even faster this time around.

While Chetrat is the absolute favourite in the 200 fly, he’ll have his work cut out for him in the 100 fly where he’s currently seeded as the 16th fastest Canadian. Both Santo Condorelli and Coleman Allen should lead the field, but it’s never a safe bet to count Chetrat out in any butterfly discipline.
