Urlando has suffered from shoulder issues in the past but has soared to new heights since his return, notably winning a gold medal in the men’s 200 butterfly at the 2025 World Championships.

Fantastic swim! But I am curious, why were there no stroke and turn judges to assure 2-hand touches. I AM NOT SAYING LUCA DIDN’T TOUCH WITH TWO HANDS; just curious about the officiating.
Wow, only 5 strokes and 7(?) kicks for several of those lengths! At that speed. So strong.
Makes me feel so warm watching Urlando succeed and rebound, IDK like I can personally relate to his struggle down to the timing of it all, sure I am not the only one given the last 5 years were just…
So…Maybe his ultimate NCAA goal is to be the first 200fly swimmer under 1:36? After his six years of misery, I’m super happy for him. In long course, maybe his next goal is to go after MPs American record, 1:51.51?
Surely this must convert to SCM to something pretty close the world record, 1:46.85 by Tomoru Honda. Let’s hope he’ll enter some SCM competions in the not too distant future.
I can’t remember the last time a high profile swimmer came back from a major shoulder surgery and picked up where they left off. Super inspiring, can’t wait to see what he does at NC’s and OT’s
He’s swimming it the way Tom Shields used to swim it. Great underwater!
