WOMEN’S 100 BACKSTROKE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 48.10, Gretchen Walsh (Virginia) – 2024
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 52.65
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 51.68
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Emily Jones (BAMA) – 51.35
- Catie Choate (FLOR) – 51.76
- Zoe Carlos-Broc (LSU) – 52.08
- Sofia Sartori (LSU) – 52.69
- Alice Verden (FSU) – 52.86
- Aspen Gersper (FLOR) – 52.95
- Sarah Evans (FSU) – 52.98
- Michaela De Villiers (LSU) – 53.06
Alabama senior Emily Jones was one of two women to break 52 seconds in the prelims of the women’s 100 back. She stopped the clock in 51.35 to claim the top qualifying spot, undercutting her season-best 51.55 from a dual meet versus Texas in early October by exactly two tenths.
Jones’ best time remains the 50.75 she produced to win this event at this same meet last year, so that’s a mark to watch when the final unfolds later today.
Catie Choate, a junior at Florida, was the other woman in the 51-second range. She swam 51.76 to come just over two tenths shy of both her personal and season best 51.53 from a dual versus Georgia on Halloween.
LSU sophomore Zoe Carlos-Broc notched 52.08 to advance third, within half a second of her season best of 51.60, recorded at a tri-meet last month when she equaled her PB from last season’s SECs, where she finished 8th.
MEN’S 100 BACKSTROKE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 43.20, Hubert Kos (Texas) – 2025
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 46.29
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 45.26
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Ruard Van Renen (UGA) – 44.45
- Luca Urlando (UGA) – 44.97
- Jonny Marshall (FLOR) – 45.13
- Max Wilson (FSU) – 45.35
- Stepan Goncharov (LSU) – 45.37
- Tommy Hagar (BAMA) – 45.58
- Sam Powe (UGA) – 45.89
- Aiden Norman (FLOR) – 46.33
Georgia senior Ruard Van Renen led teammate Luca Urlando in the men’s 100 back heats, with the pair representing the only two to crack 45 seconds. The Durbanville, South Africa native hit the wall in a time of 44.45, while Urlando, the former NCAA Record holder in the event, swam 44.97.
Van Renen destroyed his previous season-best of 45.02, set at the Georgia Tech Dual Meet Tournament last month, by over half a second. His best time stems from last year’s NCAA Championships, where he touched third in 43.85.
As for Urlando, he was eight one-hundredths outside of the 44.89 he produced at the same tournament. His best time is the 43.35 from the 2022 NCAAs, a time that still ranks him as the #3 performer in collegiate history, as well as the fastest American in history.
Florida junior Jonny Marshall, the #2 performer all time with his 43.22 runner – up swim from NCAAs last season, produced 45.15 to undercut his season best by just under four tenths. The Florida men aren’t known to show all their cards in-season, so it’ll likely be SECs or NCAAs until Marshall gets back down near his lifetime best.
WOMEN’S 200 BREASTSTROKE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 2:01.29, Kate Douglass (Virginia) – 2023
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 2:11.27
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 2:09.58
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Molly Mayne (FLOR) – 2:09.15
- Elizabeth Nawrocki (UGA) – 2:09.77
- Grace Rabb (FLOR) – 2:09.83
- Martina Bukvic (LSU) – 2:10.44
- Charlotte Headlane (UGA) – 2:11.28
- Julia Mansson (FSU) – 2:11.43
- Grace Palmer (LSU) – 2:11.57
- Anita Bottazzo (FLOR) – 2:11.90
The women’s 200 breast prelims were a bit subdued, with just three women dipping under the 2:10 barrier. Florida junior Molly Mayne led the way at 2:09.15, while Georgia freshman Elizabeth Nawrocki (2:09.77) and Mayne’s freshman teammate Grace Rabb (2:09.83) were a little over a half second back.
It was the first time all three broke 2:10 this season. Mayne’s prior season best was the 2:10.88 she logged at a dual versus Georgia last month, though her PB dates back to this meet two years ago when she swam 2:07.72.
Nawrocki sliced 19 hundredths off her personal and season best of 2:09.96 from the GT Dual Meet Tournament, while Rabb took 15 hundredths off her best time from last March’s NCSA Spring Championships.
Anita Bottazzo, who won the 100 breast last night with her second-ever sub-57 swim, snuck into the final at eighth with a time of 2:11.90. Though the Italian native is much more of a sprint breaststroker, her lifetime and season best of 2:07.89 should put her in the running to win tonight if she can get within striking distance of the mark.
MEN’S 200 BREASTSTROKE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 1:46.35, Leon Marchand (ASU) – 2024
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 1:54.95
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 1:52.89
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Cale Martter (UGA) – 1:53.65
- Lleyton Arnold (FSU) – 1:54.50
- Tommaso Baravelli (FSU) – 1:55.17
- Elliot Woodburn (UGA) – 1:55.74
- Jordan Willis (FLOR) – 1:55.93
- Aleksas Savickas (FLOR) – 1:55.95
- Mathias Christensen (FSU) & Liam O’Connor (FSU) – 1:56.30
- N/A
UGA’s Cale Martter (1:53.65) led the FSU duo of Lleyton Arnold (1:54.50) and Tommaso Baravelli (1:55.17) in the prelims of the men’s 200 breast.
Martter’s swim checked in as a new season best, about a second and a half outside his lifetime best of 1:52.19, recorded at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships when he was still swimming with the Sun Devils.
Arnold, a sophomore, nearly earned himself a new PB, coming just shy of the 1:54.18 he swam to win the ‘C’ final at the 2025 ACC meet. He did shatter his season best of 1:58.06 from a dual versus South Carolina on Halloween. Baravelli blew away the 1:57.64 season best he notched at the same dual meet, though he remains well off his lifetime best of 1:52.37 from last March’s Florida Invitational.
Georgia sophomore Elliot Woodburn, who has been on fire this week with a 22.56 breast leg on the Bulldogs’ victorious 200 medley relay paired with a PB 51.20 to win the 100 last night, is sitting fourth with his 1:55.74. The Kendal, England native wasn’t too far outside his career and season best of 1:55.29 from the GT Dual Meet Tournament.
FSU had a strong showing, as they’ll represent half of tonight’s “A” heat, with Mathias Christensen and Liam O’Connor tying for seventh to claim the final two spots.
WOMEN’S 500 FREESTYLE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 4:24.06, Katie Ledecky (Stanford) – 2017
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 4:43.70
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 4:39.47
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Michaela Mattes (FLOR) – 4:40.37
- Marie Landreneau (UGA) – 4:43.28
- Julie Brousseau (FLOR) – 4:43.79
- Elizabeth Tilt (UGA) – 4:43.99
- Mackenzie Brandt (BAMA) – 4:44.74
- Clark Neace (UGA) – 4:44.80
- Shea Furse (UGA) – 4:44.81
- Nicole Santuliana (LSU) – 4:45.42
Georgia had a very strong showing in the prelims of the women’s 500 free, putting four swimmers into the top eight, and they did so without national leader Kennedi Dobson swimming. She scratched after winning the 1650 (14:47.62) and 200 free (1:42.19) in personal best times earlier in the meet.
While the Bulldogs shined, they did not grab the top seed, as that honor went to Florida sophomore Michaela Mattes. Mattes stopped the clock at 4:40.37 to take the #1 position going into the final by nearly three seconds in her first time swimming the event this year. Her best time is 4:37.95 from this meet last year, and she’s three seconds faster this morning than she was in prelims last year, so that mark could be in danger tonight.
Sophomore Marie Landreneau led the charge for Georgia in 4:43.28, obliterating her career-best of 4:46.40 from this meet last year. Fellow sophomore Julie Brousseau of Florida was third-quickest at 4:43.79, well shy of both her season (4:40.98) and personal (4:34.59) best times.
The other Dawgs to advance were Elizabeth Tilt (4:43.99), Clark Neace (4:44.80), and Shea Furse (4:44.81).
MEN’S 500 FREESTYLE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 4:02.31, Leon Marchand (ASU) – 2024
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 4:18.07
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 4:14.13
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Leonardo Alcantara (BAMA) – 4:15.44
- Ahmed Jaouadi (FLOR) – 4:15.50
- Tomas Koski (UGA) – 4:16.07
- Giovanni Linscheer (FLOR) – 4:16.80
- Charlie Hutchison (FLOR) – 4:17.13
- Sean Green (UGA) – 4:17.60
- Jacob Pishko (LSU) – 4:18.86
- Finn Hammer (UGA) – 4:19.34
The men’s 500 free was a close battle this morning, as only 0.63 separates the top three and 1.69 is the difference between the top five seeds going into the final.
Alabama junior Leonardo Alcantara led the way at 4:15.44, just six one-hundredths ahead of Florida freshman Ahmed Jaouadi. UGA senior Tomas Koski rounded out the top three at 4:16.07.
Alcantara was eight one-hundredths shy of his season-best 4:15.36 from a dual meet with Texas in early October, while his best is the 4:15.19 he swam at this meet last season.
Koski was just over two seconds shy of his 4:13.85 season best from the aforementioned dual meet tournament. If he can get close to his 4:08.25 personal best that earned him runner-up at last year’s SEC meet, he could walk away with his second win of the meet.
This morning’s swim marked Jaouadi’s third time swimming the event, and he was about half a second outside of his best of 4:14.94, which he recorded en route to winning the 1000 at the UF v. UVA dual last month. He appears to be in heavy training at this meet, but even so, a time in the lower 4:10s could see him grab the win.
At the LCM World Championships this past July, Jaouadi established himself as the best male distance freestyler in the world. He opened that meet by winning gold in the 800 free, a new textile world record and the third-fastest performance in history. The 20-year-old followed up by claiming the 1500 free title, emerging after a close battle with Germany’s Sven Schwarz and American (and now, training partner) Bobby Finke to rank #6 all-time in the event.
WOMEN’S 50 FREESTYLE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 20.37, Gretchen Walsh (Virginia) – 2024
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 22.28
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 22.01
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Cadence Vincent (BAMA) – 21.83
- Michaela De Villiers (LSU) – 21.92
- Charlotte Rosendale (BAMA) – 22.17
- Avery Littlefield (LSU) – 22.35
- Maryn McDade (FSU) – 22.38
- Jada Scott (BAMA) – 22.40
- Katie Belle Sikes (UGA) – 22.48
- Beatriz Bezerra (FLOR) – 22.58
Alabama junior Cadence Vincent (21.83) and LSU senior Michaela De Villiers (21.92) were the only two women to dip under 22 seconds in the 50 free. Vincent’s senior teammate, Charlotte Rosendale, clocked 22.17 to secure the third seed for the final, and she was the only other to break 22.3.
Vincent’s time slid under her 21.93 season best from the LSU/FSU/Alabama tri meet last month, while her best time rests at 21.57. De Villiers was just five one-hundredths shy of her 21.87 personal record, but she did undercut her season best from that same dual meet by 0.02. Rosendale crushed her 22.60 season best and came within seven one-hundredths of her 22.10 best time.
It looks like both De Villiers and Rosendale could challenge their best times tonight, and Vincent could get into the upper 21-mid range.
MEN’S 50 FREESTYLE – PRELIMS
- NCAA Record: 17.63, Caeleb Dressel (Florida) – 2018
- 2026 NCAA Qualifying Time: 19.43
- 2025 NCAA Invite Time: 19.02
Top 8 Qualifiers:
- Josh Liendo (FLOR) – 18.87
- Jere Hribar (LSU) – 19.05
- Stephan Goncharov (LSU) – 19.48
- Alex Painter (FLOR) – 19.49
- Sam Bork (FSU) – 19.51
- Devin Dilger (FLOR) – 19.53
- Tim Korstanje (BAMA) – 19.54
- Tane Bidois (UGA) – 19.60
As expected, Florida senior Josh Liendo (18.87) secured the top qualifying spot in the men’s 50 free. He was the only man to break 19 seconds during the session, and was just over two tenths shy of his 18.68 season best.
LSU junior Jere Hribar threw down a 19.05 to nab the second seed, while his teammate Andrei Goncharov was just over four tenths back with the third quickest time at 19.48.
Hribar anchored LSU’s bronze-medal-winning 200 medley relay earlier in the meet in 18.11; given the Croatian’s personal best is 18.68, he could give Liendo a push for the win tonight if Liendo isn’t closer to his 18.07 career best.
This was Goncharov’s first time swimming the event this season, and he came within 18 one-hundredths of his 19.30 best time from the 2025 ACC Championships, where he placed 10th while swimming for Pitt.
