Wagner Women, Seton Hall Men Claim Victories As Pirates Honor Senior Class

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — The Swimming and Diving teams split the final results at Seton Hall on Saturday. The women defeated the Pirates 150-140, while the men came up short 176-112.

Fresh off her third NEC Swimmer of the Week award, sophomore Mia Goodale once again showed out, finishing first in the 100-yard (52.62), the 200-yard (1:54.03), and the 500-yard (5:07.34) freestyle events. She also joined sophomore Lovisa Ramsten, junior Brooke Woolfe, and reigning NEC Rookie of the Week Lillian Clark in winning the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:36.81).

Woolfe also won a race of her own, finishing first in the 200-yard breaststroke event (2:27.03). Senior Lia Vendel took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.53), and three-time prime performer sophomore Gaya Savran won both the 100-yard (57.58) and 200-yard (2:07.70) butterfly events.

Despite the loss, the men’s team produced some event wins as well. Junior Manuel Chavez Villalpando took first in the 100-yard butterfly (53.72), and senior Ranger Gavino won the 200-yard individual medley event (2:00.90). Villalpando also joined sophomore Florian Schumich, and juniors Max Wameling and Senan Noonan in winning the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.03).

The Seahawks will return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 23, where they will host LIU for their senior day meet at the Spiro Sports Center. The events are set to begin at 5 p.m.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – On Senior Day, Seton Hall women’s swimming and diving fell to the Wagner Seahawks, 150-140.

Diving
Senior Amy Kugelman began Senior Day with a win, beating out Sarah Behrman for the top step with a score of 222.00.

On the one-meter, freshman Daphne Powell put up her second win of the season with a score of 219.37. Behrman came up right behind her with a score of 211.20.

Swimming
Opening the individual slate, distance swimmer Zeynep Aysoy secured a dominant victory in the 1000 freestyle, topping the event by nearly 40 seconds with a time of 10:44.88.  She would also go on to secure second place in the 500 freestyle.

Later on, building off her strong close to 2025, Lindsay Naber won both the 100 backstroke (59.69) and 200 IM (2:07.84) by at least a second. Also, in the 200 backstroke, Bianka Bukovics finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.84. In addition to the pair, Naima Hazell capped off the Pirates’ win tally for the day in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.55.

In addition to the wins, the Pirates secured a series of second places. In the 100 breaststroke, Yosun Hacifazioglu secured the second step with a time of 1:07.94. Hannah Pronk landed second place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.19.  Rounding out the collecting of seconds was Ella Drakulich, who landed in second in both the 200 IM (2:11.58) and 200 Breaststroke (2:27.60)

What’s Next
The Pirates will continue the season when they play host to the UConn Huskies on Saturday, January 24. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In the Pirates’ opening meet of 2026, Seton Hall men’s swimming and diving downed the Wagner Seahawks, 176-112, inside Imperatore Natatorium.

Diving
Just like in the fall, Nick Graham returned to the boards just as dominant as before. Graham won both boards handily, topping the one-meter and three-meter with scores of 349.65 and 323.77, respectively.

Aside from Graham, the Pirates’ freshman shared podium duties. Henry Summers finished second on the one-meter and three-meter with personal-best marks of 264.07 and 280.65. Mason Case, meanwhile, secured third on the one-meter with a score of 235.75.

Swimming
After claiming the opening relay, Clil Halevi returned to the pool after spending most of the fall injured to put up a dominant performance. On Senior Day, the senior put up a dominant performance in the 1000 freestyle, winning with a time of 9:38.74.

Quickly after that, junior freestyle star Toma Adam kept pouring on the pressure. Adam claimed the 200 freestyle by less than half a second over teammates Balint Marosi and Jack Callan with a time of 1:43.31. He would also claim the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.95.

As the meet progressed, the Pirates’ strong sophomore class proved potent across the full slate of events. In the 100 backstroke, the Pirates unleashed a twinning trouble on Wagner. Kale and Kaedin Duong finished 1-2 in the event, with Kale edging out his brother by 0.06 seconds with a time of 52.11. Alongside his fellow sophomores, Jake Karulf took the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:54.61. Evan Wilson capped off the sophomore showing by winning the 50 freestyle with a mark of 21.34.

In both breaststroke events, star freshman Jaeger Ellerman produced a dominant showing in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, winning with times of 57.02 and 2:08.79, respectively.

In the closing events of the day, seniors Michael Klimaszewski and Kevin Cary closed the books on their home swim meet careers with dominant wins. Klimaszewski secured a dominant victory in the 100 butterfly, winning the event by nearly five seconds with a time of 53.66. Cary, meanwhile, after securing first in the 200 backstroke earlier, cruised home to a win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:51.08.

What’s Next
The Pirates will look to close out continue their strong run of form when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on the Villanova Wildcats. The meet’s start time is still TBA.
