VISAA Record-holder Sean Hogan Declares Verbal to Tennessee’s Class of 2023

Sean Hogan, a junior at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Virginia, has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee for 2019-20.

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to Tennessee class of 2023. I chose Tennessee because I love the team and the coaches and I feel it is a good fit academically.  Go Vols!”

Hogan is the reigning Virginia Independent Schools champion in the 100 back and 200 IM. At the 2017 VISAA Swimming & Diving Championships, the then-sophomore led off the winning 200 medley relay in 23.37, won the 200 IM with 1:51.54, crushed the field in the 100 back in 49.61, and anchored the third-place 400 free relay in 46.65. As a freshman at the 2016 state meet, he was on two St. Christopher’s first-place relays: the VISAA record-breaking 200 medley relay in which he swam a 24.15 leadoff backstroke, and the 400 free relay that he led off in 48.18.

Hogan is a year-round member of Poseidon Swimming, where he specializes in 400 IM, 200 back, and 200 breast, in addition to his high school events. At the recent NCAP Tom Dolan Invitational in December, he updated his times in the 100 back, 200 breast, and 200/400 IM. He won the 400 IM, was runner-up in the 100 back, and finished top-6 in the 200 back, 200 breast, and 200 IM. He also had an excellent long course season this past summer, going best times in everything he swam.

Top SCY times:

  • 400 IM – 3:51.61
  • 200 IM – 1:51.52
  • 200 back – 1:47.55
  • 100 back – 49.38
  • 200 breast – 2:03.12
