USA Swimming Announces 2027 Domestic Calendar With Three Pro Series Stops

USA Swimming has announced its domestic calendar for 2027. A total of nine meets have been announced with Futures and Winter Juniors having more than one location.

DATES EVENT LOCATION
January 14-17 Pro Swim Series Nashville, Tenn.
March 3-6 Pro Swim Series Westmont, Ill.
April 2-4 Open Water National and Junior National Championships Sarasota, Fla.
April 21-24 Pro Swim Series Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
June 8-12 U.S. National Championships Indianapolis, Ind.
July 28-31 Futures Championships Carmel, Ind. / Cary, N.C. / Minneapolis, Minn. / Ocala, Fla. / Sacramento, Calif.
August 2-6 Speedo Junior National Championships Huntsville, Ala.
December 1-4 U.S. Open Championships Greensboro, N.C.
December 8-11 Speedo Winter Junior Championships East: Greensboro, N.C. / West: TBD

The year will kick off with a Pro Series stop in Nashville, Tennessee. That Pro Series stop will run from a Thursday through Sunday. Typically, Pro Series meets run Wednesday through Saturday which is how the March stop in Westmont, Illinois and April stop in Fort Lauderdale will take place.

The state of Tennessee is no stranger to Pro Series meets but Nashville will be a new stop as meets are typically held in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee. This meet will take place at The Tracy Caulkins Competition Pool at the Centennial Sportsplex.

Nashville is positioning itself as a growing sports hub as it was announced today that the city will be home to the Super Bowl in 2030. Notably, Gretchen Walsh and Alex Walsh spent their middle school and high school days swimming for Nashville Aquatic Club.

Westmont was home to the March stop in 2026 and will be back the first weekend of 2027. The Pro Series will return to Fort Lauderdale after the meet was there in 2025 but was not a host to a Pro Series meet in 2026. Fort Lauderdale instead had the Fort Lauderdale Open at the start of May. Gretchen Walsh swam to a World Record at both the 2025 Pro Series meet as well as at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale Open.

The National Championship meet will return to Indianapolis. Indianapolis is home to a Pro Series stop next month.

Summer Junior Nationals will have a new location this year as they will take place in Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville has been home to numerous meets such as NCSAs and Futures. Summer Juniors is typically held in Irvine, California.

The year will conclude with the US Open in Greensboro, North Carolina while Winter Juniors has set its East location to be at Greensboro as well. The West location has not yet been determined.

This announcement on the 2027 calendar is much earlier than the 2026 calendar that was released in August 2025. The 2025 domestic calendar was announced in July 2024.

I miss the ISL (go dawgs)

If the PSS in Nash is happening at Centennial Sportsplex that is going to be a disaster. There is one tiny shallow warmdown pool. It’s a mess for long course meets. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like for a PSS. I get why they are doing it there as Nash is growing and the Walshes are from there, but I wonder if it’s suited for a meet like this.

It is not suited for a pss. I have swam decently large SCY meets there and it is a mess. WU/WD pool is like 84 degrees and there is no space.

It’s also extremely shallow if I’m remembering correctly

As President of the Fan Club, I’m gonna need you to check yourself before you wreck yourself. It doesn’t matter that warm down pool will collect all the hairballs and body glide by day 2.5 and will be a giant cesspool for the last night of finals. Good thing we can get some hot chicken for lunch!

Where in Nashville will the meet be? Centennial Sportsplex doesn’t have a separate warm up/cool down pool from my understanding

What I find most interesting is the selection of some of these meets in relation to other events in town at the same time. PSS in Ft Lauderdale already has room rates at the Courtyard across the street from the pool for over $800 per night. This past month F1 was taking place the same weekend. Who the heck can afford this? Women’s NC’s is in Austin during SXSW. 200K+ people coming to town during that time. Not a hotel room available anywhere.

I’m glad they moved the Ft. Lauderdale stop up a week so it no longer conflicts with the Kentucky Derby or the auto races in Miami.

Ft Lauderdale being earlier avoids conflicts with college swimmers final exams

And gives 6 weeks before US Nationals which are trials for 2027 World Championships in Hungary in July

The 6 week training block is clearly intentional, and represents the sort of traditional American training cycle.

I like that there appears to have been a lot more thought put into planning this year’s schedule. Feels like Meehan’s touch to a tee.

The outcome could be that we see better results at these meets.

Glad to see USA Swimming realized the error of their ways and did what was needed to make Ft Lauderdale part of the Pro Swim Series again next year.
