Day three of the Speedo Sectionals meet wrapped up on Friday, and Shaine Casas led the Texas pro group with a massive swim in the men’s 100 fly final, the last event of the session.
Casas, who won the 50 and 100 back on the first two days of the meet, wrapped up the session with the 100 fly win. He stopped the clock in 50.89 to touch about three seconds ahead of Aggie Swim Club’s Logan Brown, who swam a personal best 54.05 to finish 2nd.
Casas split 23.42/27.47 to set his 3rd fastest 100 fly time this season. He has only been faster in prelims and finals at the 2025 U.S. Open Championships in December, when he set his lifetime best of 50.24, which currently ranks 2nd in the world this season. Only six other people have been faster than Casas’ 50.89 this season.
On top of Casas, the rest of the Texas pro group also had strong performances. Regan Smith earned her 3rd event win of the meet, swimming 2:06.14 in the women’s 200 backstroke to finish more than 10 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Halina Panczyszyn‘s 2:16.81.
Smith split 29.43/31.86/32.56/32.29, coming home almost two seconds faster than her morning split of 34.26 on the final 50. Her season best time stands at 2:04.85 from the Longhorn Elite Invite in June, which is the 3rd fastest time in the world this season.
In the 50 freestyle, Simone Manuel swam 24.67 to set the top time by about eight tenths over SMU’s Maddy Parker. This was Manuel’s 2nd fastest performance this season in the event, only behind the 24.42 she set at the U.S. Open Championships in December.
This was also Manuel’s 3rd event win of the meet after she set a new season best to win the 100 free on day one, and finished just seven hundredths ahead of Erin Gemmell in the 200 free on day 2.
Chris Guiliano won the men’s 50 freestyle, stopping the clock in 22.12, four tenths faster than Mark Nikolaev‘s 22.58 in 2nd place.
Guiliano’s personal and season best stands at the 21.43 he swam at the Pro Swim Series in Westmont, which currently ranks 4th in the world this season.
Other Event Winners
- Jillian Cox won the women’s 400 freestyle in 4:08.98, finishing nearly 10 seconds ahead of Hayden Miller, from Cypress Fairbanks, who touched in 4:18.66 for 2nd. This was a new season best for Cox and was just about two seconds off her lifetime best of 4:06.31 from June of 2024.
- The men’s 400 free was one of the closest races of the session. Rex Maurer came out on top after trailing Carson Foster through the first 250 meters. Maurer split 1:50.90/1:56.54 to stop the clock in a season best 3:47.44, while Foster swam 1:50.53/1:58.53 to swim 3:49.06 in 2nd.
- New Texas pro Jack Aikins won the men’s 200 backstroke in 2:01.53. This was about a second-and-a-half off the 2:00.16 he swam at the Longhorn Elite Invite at the beginning of June, but still won the event by three seconds over SMU’s Asher Good, who swam 2:04.50.
- Hannah O’Leary, who just wrapped up her junior season at Texas A&M, won the 100 breast in a massive personal best 1:10.24, taking more than a second off the 1:12.06 she swam last month.
- University of Texas swimmers took the other two events. Campbell McKean, who is a rising sophomore, swam 59.93 to win the men’s 100 breaststroke, his 2nd fastest performance this season. He finished about three tenths ahead of Luka Mladenovic‘s 1:00.22.
- Rising Texas junior Lillie Nesty won the 100 fly in a personal best 59.32. This swim marked her first ever time under 1:00 in the event, taking nearly a second off her pre-meet best of 1:00.21, which she set in July of 2025.

Regan’s ability to swim fast all season long even when they are clearly in hard training amazes me. Great swim for Shaine too! 49 incoming sooon
Need to put Regan’s event! I had to guess what it was!
At this same time last year, she also clocked 2:06 in the 200 fly and 200 back. It is true, however, that she has been considerably faster in the 100m back this year.
49 fly and 1:53 IM. I’m shaking in my boots
I can definitely see it. So excited for him
1:57 in finals, got Carson by a second. Trouble’s afoot when Shaine outsplits Carson on free now
Dude was 1:59 roughly same time out from worlds last year…
Carson 1:58.8 and he was 2:00.0 at that Indy Cup last year
