Texas Distance Freestyler Payton Neff Gives Verbal to Kentucky

Payton Neff of The Woodlands, Texas has verbally committed to swim and further her education at the University of Kentucky.

Neff is a senior at The Woodlands High School and swims year-round for Magnolia Aquatic Club. She finished eighth in the 200 free (1:53.76) and sixth in the 500 free (4:57.48) at the 2016 Texas 6A State Championships, and sixth and fifth in the same events as a sophomore.

Neff wrapped up her long-course season on an up note with best times in the 200m free and 400m free at 2016 USA Swimming Futures Championships in Austin. Neff is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, was named to the all-state team in 2015, and was selected to the USA Swimming Zone Select Camp in 2014. Her top times in SCY include:

  • 1650 free – 16:57.21
  • 1000 free – 10:01.26
  • 500 free – 4:52.74
  • 200 free – 1:51.29
  • 400 IM – 4:26.80

Neff will join the Kentucky Wildcats’ class of 2021 with a strong and deep group of verbal commits, including:

I have seen Neff swim some big second halves. She charges hard from behind. I think Lars will like that.
