Team USA’s girls’ squad continues to be on fire at the World Junior Championships.

The United States quartet of Rylee Erisman (53.41), Liberty Clark (53.85), Julie Mishler (54.65), and Lily King (53.62) crushed the World Junior Record in the 4×100 freestyle relay, combining for a time of 3:35.53.

The former record rested at 3:36.19, notched by Taylor Ruck, Penny Oleksiak, Rebecca Smithand Kayla Sanchez hit that mark at the 2017 World Juniors. Ruck led them off in 53.63, followed by Oleksiak (53.70), Smith (54.65), and Sanchez (54.21).

Tonight, the Americans won by 2.34 seconds, with the Neutral Athletes – B team of Kira Manokhina (54.51), Mariia Poleshchuk (54.49), Alisa Zakharova (54.45), and Milana Stepanova (54.42) getting silver with a 3:37.87. They were the only other team to break 3:40, as China’s team of Luo Mingyu (55.65), Yan Tiaoshan (55.47), Chen Yizhou (54.75), and 1500 winner Yang Peiqi (54.51)–in a great flex of her range–swimming 3:40.38 for bronze.

Earlier in the meet, Erisman, a LAKR Swim Club product, swam 52.79 to win gold in the individual 100 free. She hit the wall in the lead, helping the U.S. maintain their advantage throughout the entire race. NC State commit King, who swims for Mount Pleasant Aquatic Club, earned silver in the individual race with a career-best 54.19.

The duo also helped Team USA capture gold in the mixed 4×100 free relay on Thursday. Erisman split 53.11 on the third leg, while King anchored in 53.91. King (1:58.39) and Erisman (1:56.69) also contributed to the Americans’ silver medal performance in the 4×200 free relay on night one of the competition.

Clark, an Indiana commit who swims with the Pleasanton Seahawks, handled preliminary relay duties earlier in the week. She anchored prelims in both the free relay (54.36) and mixed medley (54.61). The finals swimmers went on to touch for gold in the former and silver in the latter.

Fishers Area Swimming Tigers’ Mishler, who is heading to Louisville this fall, placed 16th in the 50 back (28.98) and 9th in the 100 back (1:00.65) earlier this week. She also produced a 54.60 split on the third leg of the mixed 4×100 free relay heats.

Time to take down the World Junior Record in women’s 4 x 100 meter medley relay. E. Scott will need to be in form on the breaststroke leg.

If the Aussies aren’t scared for 2028 and beyond after this then they’re just delusional and their crash out is going to be so fun to watch

That’s fun to say and good trash talking but I think the Aussies will be ready in ‘28. It will be one of the races to watch.

Depth matters way more for juniors than open swimming and US have (and always have) better depth.

A lot of these athletes will never make a senior team.

Such obvious trolling but I’ll bite: Not a single Aussie individual gold medallist from Paris will be retired before LA, and not one of them lost their event in Singapore. If you’re thinking that world juniors 2025 will predict LA then you’re a moron.

Commenters on here predicted USA would win the 4×1 in 22 and 23 and 24 and 25 and it’s yet to happen lol

USA always has and always will be better. Sorry for your loss. Australia seems to be absent at this meet or perhaps the pipe line is dry, weak, fragile.

Well USA was not in 2001 and 2023. And nearly not in 2024 and 2025. USA will always win total medal count but has not always won the gold medal count which is how the medal table is ranked.

lol you had a point but then ran it into the ground. that australia has a potential small generational gap shouldnt be surprising given the size of the country. they had one before moc / arnie / kaylee / meg emerged. and theyre only now starting to plug it on the mens side

the us doesnt rly have a comparable excuse for the generational gap on the mens side given its available resources and size. and thats a gap were assuming will be closed by heilman / williamson etc but that will remain to be seen

You can troll and cry all you like but this weak Australian team was one race away from topping the medal table in Singapore lol. Results don’t care about your feelings

Yes, there’s been a lot of ‘future bragging’ about Australia losing the 4×100 Free and it hasn’t worked out well for them (especially in 2023).

Yeah I’m all for celebrating a win, but people who are pre-emptively telling people how they’re allowed to feel and think is stupid AF
