Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Alexander Jungbluth from Silver Spring, Maryland, has announced his verbal commitment to the United States Naval Academy for 2027-28.
“I chose the US Naval Academy because of the community and brotherhood of the team. Coming from an all boys school brotherhood and community is very important to me. I also chose the Naval Academy because I feel a calling to serve my country. I am looking forward to not only becoming a swimming and student but also becoming a better person. GO NAVY BEAT ARMY!🔱⚓️”
Jungbluth is a rising junior at DeMatha Catholic High School. He swims year-round with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club and specializes mainly in butterfly and backstroke.
At the National Catholic High School Championships in January, he won the 100 fly (48.94) and came in 3rd in the 200 IM (1:52.71). He wrapped up his sophomore season at Washington Metros, where he hit PBs in both events, finishing 2nd in the 100 fly (48.84) and 4th in the IM (1:51.82). In March, he added 4 more PBs while competing at Potomac Valley Swimming’s Short Course Senior Championships (46.74 100 free and 2:04.92 200 breast) and NCSA Spring Championships (22.49 50 fly and 4:01.38 400 IM). At NCSAs, he competed in the 50 free, 100 breast, 50/100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM and finaled in the 50 fly (29th), 100 fly (35th), 200 fly (27th), and 400 IM (39th).
At the long course version of the same two meets this summer, he ended the summer with PBs in the 50 breast (32.35), 100 breast (1:09.78), 50 fly (25.98), 200 IM (2:12.25), and 400 IM (4:47.42).
Jungbluth will join Parker Efird, the first public verbal commitment from the class of 2027, in Navy’s class of 2031. He told SwimSwam, “I have been swimming since I was 3 years old. When I went to my first ever Navy camp in the summer of 2022, I found my passion for swimming. After that camp I knew that I wanted to go D1 and try to go to the Naval Academy. Ever since that day I have worked for that goal every day.”
