Florida high school D3 school’s wrapped up their season, with both boys and girls competing in their state championship meet.
Last year’s state champions Lawton Chiles continued their strong swimming as they took the top spot at the FHSAA Region 1 meet.
Stanford commit and defending 3A state champion Hayden Kwan was a standout in District 2, easily winning both the 200 IM and 100 back.
Hayden Zheng has verbally committed to Stanford men’s swimming and diving for 2021-22. His 100/200 breast times are already A final-ready for Pac-12s.
Kwan, who is scheduled to arrive at Stanford in the fall of 2021, will bring badly-needed backstroke depth to the Cardinal.
Matthew Fallon (above) is the #3 recruit in the class of 2021 and still hasn’t made his college decision yet. He already has NCAA-worthy times.
At the 2019 FHSAA 3A State meet, the Chiles girls won their first title since 2014 while the Barron Collier boys earned their first-ever state championship.
Mason Laur and the rest of the Barron Collier boys currently headline the FHSAA 3A State Series with the state championship just around the corner.
The Florida HS Class 3A State Series is underway with the completion of the district championships and regionals just days away.
A close call on the girls’ side saw Creekside eke out a 4-point victory over local rival Bartram Trail to become back-to-back champions.
In the 200 IM at the district 3 meet, Bartram Trail’s Summer Stanfield knocked a full second off her best time to win in 2:01.74. That’s almost 3 seconds faster than she went to take 2nd in the event last season and meets the Automatic All-American (AA-A) standard.
