SwimSwam Pulse: 58% Pick The Walsh Sisters As Most Impressive Siblings

Question: Which sibling duo was more impressive at Winter Junior Championships?

Voters picked sister combo Alex Walsh and Gretchen Walsh as the most impressive sibling duo at the Winter Junior Championships.

The Walshes combined for 5 individual East Junior titles, 4 relay titles, 3 National Age Group records, 163 individual points and 194 relay points while helping their Nashville Aquatic Club team take 2nd overall for girls.

The other option in our poll was Carson Foster and Jake FosterThe brother pairing combined for 3 individual titles, 2 relay wins, 170 individual points, 92 relay points and a 1-2 sweep of the 200 IM, while helping their Mason Manta Rays win the boys team race.

I’d love to see Walsh girls becoming like the Campbells in the future

( counties ) Walsh sisters of which five made Senior Nationals. In summer of 69 in Loisvillee at Plantation four were there with individual cuts. Steph, Bridget, Tezz and Huddie at age of 12. Then inn summer of 74 at Concord came Maura at 12 when Huddie at 17 was second in 400 IM.
All had great careers. Three finished as seniors in college. They were from MA LSC.

That East junior meet was a delight for me with 3 of my longtime favorite US juniors Alex Walsh, Carson Foster and obviously the one and unique Destin Lasco who have all shined.

Both sets of siblings (Foster and Walsh) swim a couple of the same events. So they are often competing right next to each other in the final.

At the Junior East meet, Carson and Jake Foster swam right next to each other in the 200 IM. They turned together going into the final lap, and then Carson put in a little sprint to inch past his brother.

A long time ago, brothers Steve and Bruce Furniss competed against each other in the IMs. At the 1976 Olympic Trials, Steve finished 3rd and made the team in the 400 IM, and his brother Bruce finished 4th about a half-second behind.
