ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis competitors won 10 of 12 events as the Billikens breezed past Butler 160-61 Sunday afternoon at Simon Rec Center.

Carly McKeon and Emily Leonard led the Billikens with two victories apiece. McKeon won the 100 free (54.04) and 200 free (1:55.99), while Leonard captured the 500 free (5:08.24) and 1000 free (10:30.34). Both swimmers were part of SLU’s winning 400 free relay team (3:35.05) that also included Sophie Kishish and Elena Escalante.

Meggie McPherson won the 100 back (59.23) and Kenna Cashman touched first in the 100 breast (1:07.72). McPherson and Cashman were joined by MaryBeth Clark and Amelia Carlson on the victorious 200 medley relay quartet (1:49.20).

Also winning for Saint Louis were Mia Yeo in the 100 fly (58.82) and Elizabeth Voss in 1-meter diving (240.35).

The Butler women’s swimming team headed west to compete against Saint Louis in Missouri on Sunday. 

Emily Landwehr was recognized by head coach Maurice Stewart as the “Swimmer of the Meet”. Teammates Kate Schilling and Alani Hightower-Bend were also honorable mentions. 

Landwehr led the way for the Bulldogs finishing on the podium in three different events. She touched the wall in third for 100 Free at 54.71. 

In the relays, Landwehr helped her team earn a pair of second-place finishes. Gianna LefflerOlivia Stotts and Alani Hightower-Bend joined Landwehr in the 200 Med Relay touching the wall at 1:50.38. Kate Schilling replaced Leffler for the 400 Free Relay to help the group finish in 3:38.60. 

Butler’s young swimmers continued to show promise in the individual races. Schilling won the 200 IM at 2:10.22 along with a fifth-place finish in the 100 Fly at 1:00.66. Hightower-Bend took home the crown in the 50 Free at 24.79. 

Caroline Zimner had another impressive meet touching the wall in second for 1000 Free at 10:45.27. She also finished with a pair of third-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:14.27) and 500 Free (5:24.21).   

Rounding out the top scorers was Ava McGonigle in the 100 Breastroke at 1:09.68 for a second-place result.
