Last week Casas went on to swim an American Record in the 200 IM, winning the event ahead of training partner Leon Marchand in the process. Casas looks to that momentum this week.

hadn’t partied in nearly a year now
I think he has Léon’s WR in his eyes (and in his arms and feet) on the 200 IM. He’s just 0.55 second off. But alone just against the chrono, it could be difficult without Marchand for challenging him in the next lane.
I think he’s a bit of a chaotic head case and maybe it’d actually benefit him to not have the direct pressure next to him.
I disagree. He himself said that swimming next to Léon has elevated his racing… he really feeds off of that fire and competitiveness. He’s got his head on straight this season, and the results have been great so far. Cheers to his continued success.
We’re still saying this after he went 1:54.3 and only didn’t win gold because there’s a dude out there earning Phelps comparisons?
