Several major stars are set to make their appearances in Rome later this month for the 62nd Edition of the Settecolli Trophy. Among those announced are world record holders Sarah Sjostrom, Gretchen Walsh, and Adam Peaty.
The meet will take place at Stadio del Nuoto in Rome from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28.
Sjostrom returned to racing in April at the Malmsten Swim Open, where she swam the 50 free and finished 2nd in 24.36. She had previously not raced for more than 600 days, having given birth to her son in August of 2025.
Walsh has already had a productive summer, clocking a new World Record in the 100 fly about a month ago at the Ft Lauderdale Open in 54.33. She is now the fastest performer in history in the event by more than a full second. The next-fastest 100 butterfly swimmer is fellow Sette Colli competitor Sarah Sjostrom in 55.48.
Peaty, the only man ever under 26 seconds in the 50 breast and 57 seconds in the 100 breast, is coming off the AP Race International Meet, where he clocked 26.79 in the 50 breast and 59.15 in the 100 breast. In April, Peaty dropped a 58.97 in the 100 breast at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, his fastest performance since the 2024 British Trials.
The star power does not stop there; in addition to those three world record holders, Italian Backstroker Thomas Ceccon, who swam the 100 backstroke world record in 2022 at the World Championships in Budapest in 51.60. He will be joining fellow Italian Olympic Champion Nicolo Martinenghi at the meet as well.
Other non-Italian swimmers include 200 free Olympic champion David Popovici, sprint ace Noe Ponti, Irish Olympic gold-medalist Daniel Wiffen, Russian backstroke specialist Kliment Kolesnikov, and red-hot freestylers Marrit Steenbergen and Siobhan Haughey.
Some of the host country’s best will also be racing, such as Simona Quadarella, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Simone Cerasuolo, Carlos D’Ambrosio, Sara Curtis, Benedetta Pilato, and Alberto Razzetti.

Braden, is Gretchen the only American attending this meet?
Hmmm I haven’t heard of any others. @giusy would know better.
Correction required to article:
Peaty dropped a 58.97 in the 100 breast at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, his fastest performance since the 2024 British Trials.
Peaty did a 58.8 something I believe in the Paris semis?
In April she said that she was thinking of 1 more meet before Euros and to swim the 50 Fly. I am guessing that this is the meet.
When I was guessing Sarah’s 50 Free time for Stockholm was conservative and far off (25.5 was my guess/hope), I will be a little more optimistic and guess 25.2-25.5 for her 50 Fly time at Sette. With that big of a range I hope I am in the ballpark.
If she goes under 25.57 it will be one of her 100 fastest swims in the 50 Fly (according to AQUA’s rankings). I know that ranking is not 100% correct but is probably one of the most correct places to search for times.

Gretchen about to clock Sjostrom 👌
I’m glad she waited til the pinnacle event of “Sette Colli” to beat Sjostrom in a race instead of doing it at the unimportant Olympics
Alex perkins will demolished both sara and Gretchen!
Aussie hate comment. Why am I not surprised lmfao. The insecurity is crazy…
Murica logic:
“Gretchen going to beat a woman who was out of the pool for 600 days after having a kid RAHHHHHH MURICA” = good amazing transcendent comment
“Why didn’t she do it at the Olympics” = nasty mean hate comment
You people are delusional lol
At the unimportant Olympics where she would go in as a favourite before getting silver?
No alex Walsh ?
Hopefully she uses the time to continue training
G Walsh v S Sjostrom in 50 fly
🤌

Don’t know where else to put this but Anita Bottazo is going to Indiana! This is HUGE for their medley relay
I was just doing that math. 400 medley they’re 3.5 faster on the breaststroke leg alone. 200 medley is like 1.6 I think.
UVA graduated every sub 1:00 breastroker… Is IU the favorite in the 400 medley relay now??
UVA has a LTU breastroker coming in and I doubt that Todd will get her to anything less than a 57.5 split. Add in Tennessee with Crush and it’s a 3 horse race
if Plytnykaite goes 57.5
too early prediction- UVA wins?
No, Tennessee and IU have add ups that would be similar to UVA. I would be hard pressed to bet against a relay with Curtis/Curzan/Moesch on it though.
