Queens Women, Wingate Men Set 800 Free Relay Meet Records To Open Fall Frenzy

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte swimming programs opened the 2025 Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy Invite with a commanding performance on Thursday night, highlighted by a record-breaking swim from the Royals women in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Queens’ A-relay of Leonie Tenzer, Abigail ZboranSabina Kupcova, and Madeline Foster raced to a winning time of 7:11.32, breaking both the meet record and the Queens program record. Tenzer set the tone on the leadoff before Zboran surged with a 1:45.88 split to push the Royals ahead of the field. Kupcova held strong through the third leg, and Foster brought the relay home as Queens finished nearly nine seconds clear of the competition. Queens’ B-relay added additional scoring with a ninth-place finish in 7:38.45.

On the men’s side, the Royals continued their momentum with a runner-up performance in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of Daniel MeszarosLance YoungTJ Spokas, and Matheus Przewalla clocked 6:24.88, staying within striking distance of Wingate throughout the race and securing a strong early finish for the squad. Queens’ B-relay also impressed, taking fourth in 6:31.97 as the men opened the meet with valuable depth.

At the close of Thursday’s events, the Queens women lead the standings with 104 points, while the men sit in second with 108.

Charlotte, N.C.—-The Wingate University men’s 800 Freestyle Relay quartet set a new school standard at the Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy Invitational Thursday night. The Bulldogs won the event with a time of 6:23.56, erasing the previous school-record mark of 6:24.13.

The 800 Free Relay was the only event contested Thursday evening. The NCAA Division II No. 5 Wingate men lead host Queens by four points (112-108). On the women’s side, Queens leads Nova Southeastern by two points (104-102). NCAA Division II No. 9 Wingate is fourth with 84 points.

Men’s 800 Freestyle Relay notes

– Sophomores Yassine Sebbata and Tymofii Chemeryk swam the first and third legs
– MBA graduate student and team captain Joel Thompson swam the second leg
– Junior Anton Witzell finished things up for the victorious Bulldogs
– Host Queens finished second in the event with a time of 6:24.88

Women’s 800 Freestyle Relay notes

– Wingate posted a time of 7:25.04 to take fourth in the crowded field
– Senior team captain Nina Azirovic swam the first 200 yards
– She was followed by freshman Nina Gul Serdar
– Sophomore Elizabete Paula Ozola and senior Giulianna Garcia finished
– Host Queens won the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:11.32
